Solana-Based WhatsApp Trade Sparks Fresh Attention Around XRP Access

  • A crypto user said they bought wrapped XRP on Solana through WhatsApp by using a simple text command.
  • The post drew a reaction from Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko and renewed attention around XRP’s growing reach across new interfaces.

A small trade executed inside WhatsApp has turned into a much larger crypto conversation.

A user posted on X that they swapped 0.1 SOL for 5.99 wXRP directly through the messaging app, apparently using an AI-powered trading bot. The instruction itself was almost absurdly simple: “buy 0.1 SOL worth of wXRP.” What made the post travel was not only the novelty of the interface, but who noticed it. Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko reacted, giving the demo a level of visibility that pushed it well beyond a niche product experiment.

XRP trading moves into a more familiar interface

The immediate takeaway is straightforward. Users can now access wrapped XRP on Solana through a channel that looks more like ordinary messaging than traditional crypto trading. That matters because one of the industry’s long-running barriers has been the interface itself. Wallets, bridges and swaps are still too fragmented for many users.

A WhatsApp-based flow changes that tone. It makes crypto activity feel less like navigating infrastructure and more like issuing a command.

The researcher leaned into that point with a joking line, saying Solana was now “officially ready for boomers.” Underneath the joke, though, sits a real product signal. Messaging-based execution may be one of the cleaner ways to hide crypto complexity from end users without removing self-custody entirely.

Wrapped XRP gains another route into Solana’s ecosystem

The timing is also notable because wXRP already launched on Solana through Hex Trust and LayerZero. Adoption so far has been more muted than some expected, with most wrapped XRP supply sitting on Ethereum rather than Solana.

This latest episode may help change that, at least in visibility terms. Solana already hosts wrapped versions of several major assets, including BTC, ETH, TRON, AVAX, Monad and SUI, and XRP now appears to be finding more direct utility inside that broader environment.

For XRP, the potential upside is not only symbolism. Easier access inside Solana could improve liquidity and open more DeFi-style use cases. For Solana, it is another example of how the network is trying to become less a chain users think about, and more a place where assets simply move through whatever interface feels easiest.
