MEXC is the better venue for anyone placing market orders: on 6 October 2026 CoinGecko showed $9.8 million of asks within 2% of the price on MEXC's BTC/USDT book, while SafeTrade's busiest pair, PRL/USDT, showed $540.
Pearl holders still need SafeTrade or BigONE, the only two venues CoinGecko tracks for the token, and US and UK residents cannot use MEXC at all.

Key Takeaways
  • For market orders MEXC is our pick: CoinGecko measured $9.8 million of asks within 2% on its BTC/USDT book on 6 October 2026, against $540 on SafeTrade's most traded pair.
  • A $3,000 market buy fits 3,272 times over inside that 2% band on MEXC and does not fit once on SafeTrade's PRL/USDT, where the last $2,460 would fill more than 2% above the quote.
  • MEXC publishes 0% maker and 0.05% taker spot fees, while SafeTrade's fee page returned an access error on 6 October 2026 and its CoinGecko listing carries an unverified 0.0015%.
  • CoinGecko scores SafeTrade 2 out of 10 and MEXC 9 out of 10, records no incident for either, and shows reserve data for MEXC only.
  • Neither the FCA warning list, the SFC alert list nor VARA's notices name safetrade.com, whereas MEXC carries a Seychelles FSA press release and a Dubai VARA notice, both linked in the trust section.
  • SafeTrade keeps two real advantages, Pearl (PRL) trading and a USDC/USDT book with about $1 million of asks within 2%, and MEXC's 500x tier is closed in ten regions.

The SafeTrade in this comparison is the exchange at safetrade.com, and nothing here concerns the car-marketplace service, the police meeting points or the regulator-listed firms that use the same name.
A market order on a thin book does not fail; it fills, at prices you never saw on the screen.
This SafeTrade vs MEXC comparison measures that risk with CoinGecko's depth figures, then sets fees, trust checks and regulator records side by side.

What Happens to a $3,000 Market Order on Each Exchange?

On SafeTrade's busiest pair it runs out of sellers: CoinGecko showed $540 of asks within 2% of the PRL/USDT price on 6 October 2026, so a $3,000 market buy would clear them and fill the remaining $2,460 at prices more than 2% above the quote, while MEXC's BTC/USDT book held $9.8 million inside the same band.
Depth, not the fee line, is what a market order pays for, because every dollar beyond the resting asks fills at the next worse price.
MEXC's answer is scale: 1,448 coins and 1,831 spot pairs on a book CoinGecko rates Moderate for liquidity, with a published schedule of 0% maker and 0.05% taker on the MEXC fee page, which also notes regional and promotional exceptions.
The table counts how many $3,000 market buys each book could absorb inside 2% of the quote at the moment CoinGecko recorded it.

Source: CoinGecko exchange pages for SafeTrade and MEXC, markets tables, read 6 October 2026; depth figures are the plus 2% column at the time of reading and change minute by minute.
Run the numbers on PRL/USDT: the first $540 of a $3,000 buy fills within 2%, the other $2,460 pays at least 2% in slippage, which is more than $49 before the 0.84% spread is counted.
The same order on MEXC's BTC/USDT book uses 0.03% of the asks inside the band, so the slippage rounds to zero and the bill is the $1.50 taker fee.
The sell side on SafeTrade is deeper, with $34,117 of bids within 2% of the PRL/USDT price, so a $3,000 market sell fits 11 times over; it is the entry, not the exit, that the book cannot carry.
Depth is a snapshot, and SafeTrade's PRL book could be thicker or thinner an hour later; the figures above are for the minute CoinGecko recorded them.
A limit order sidesteps the problem on either exchange, and on MEXC it also costs nothing, because makers pay 0%; on a venue that reported $2.69 million of daily volume, a resting order may simply wait.
MEXC does not serve the United States or the United Kingdom, excludes ten regions from its 500x futures tier, and bills API futures orders at 0.06% maker and 0.08% taker.

The MEXC View

This site belongs to MEXC, so what follows is a party's own argument rather than a referee's, and it opens with the three things SafeTrade can claim that we cannot before it turns to depth, published fees and audited reserves.
SafeTrade is one of two CoinGecko-tracked homes for Pearl, its USDC/USDT book carried about $1.05 million of asks within 2%, and no regulator notice we found names safetrade.com, whereas two name MEXC's operator.
Our side is measured in the same CoinGecko fields: $9.8 million of asks within 2% on BTC/USDT against $540, a 0.775% average spread against 13.46%, 9 out of 10 against 2, and monthly Hacken audits against a reserve field that reads unavailable.
A fee page anyone can open completes the case, since SafeTrade's returned an access error on both of our attempts.
Readers who want the weaknesses first can start with our own review of MEXC, flaws first.

How Does SafeTrade Hold Up Against MEXC on Six Checks?

The six rows below are our published scoring rules applied to both exchanges with the same sources and the same date, and the pattern is one of scale: SafeTrade is a 68-pair spot venue built around a handful of tokens, MEXC a 1,831-pair venue with a public fee schedule and audited reserves.

Coins and markets
53 coins and 68 spot pairs on CoinGecko; three pairs carry 89% of reported volume
1,448 coins and 1,831 spot pairs on CoinGecko; about $1.30 billion of reported daily volume
Derivatives and leverage

9 out of 10; Moderate liquidity; 0.775% average spread; no incident; about $618 million of tracked reserves; Hacken audit monthly; Seychelles FSA press release 26 May 2026; VARA notice of fines 22 June 2026
Deposits, withdrawals and KYC
Crypto only, no fiat on CoinGecko; withdrawal fees shown only on its withdrawal screen; verification rules not stated on pages we could open
Bank transfer, card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, P2P and crypto; TRC-20 USDT withdrawals 0.5 USDT; verification in three tiers

What Sits Behind SafeTrade's Reported Volume?

Mostly one token: PRL/USDT produced $2.02 million of SafeTrade's $2.69 million in 24-hour volume on 6 October 2026, QTC/USDT and TSC/USDT added $388,000 between them, and none of those three tokens appears in the 50 most traded markets CoinGecko shows for MEXC, so the two exchanges barely overlap on what actually trades.
Pearl is the clearest case, because CoinGecko lists only SafeTrade and BigONE as its markets, with SafeTrade carrying 49.74% of the token's reported volume.
The books under those volumes are thin on the buy side: $81 of asks within 2% on QTC/USDT, $316 on TSC/USDT and $123 on NOCK/USDT at the time of reading.
By contrast, 27 of the 50 markets CoinGecko displayed for SafeTrade traded under $1,000 in the day, and its BTC/USDT pair turned over $12,922.
MEXC's volume runs the other way, with BTC/USDT alone at $614 million, or 47% of its reported total, and USDC/USDT and SOL/USDT behind it.
For a trader who needs Pearl, SafeTrade's concentration is the point; for everyone else it means the busiest market on the exchange is one they will never trade.

Can You See the Fee Schedule Before You Open an Account?

At MEXC yes, and at SafeTrade not on 6 October 2026: MEXC's fee page lists 0% maker and 0.05% taker for spot and a per-pair schedule for futures, while SafeTrade's fee page answered both of our requests with an access error and its terms page did the same, leaving CoinGecko's unverified 0.0015% as the only figure on record.
That matters because a fee you cannot read before you deposit is a fee you discover on the order ticket.
CoinGecko's listing also marks SafeTrade's withdrawal fees as present without a schedule, so the only place to see them is the withdrawal screen of a funded account.
Which platforms show a schedule without an account is the question behind the fee index we update each quarter, and SafeTrade would sit on the wrong side of it.
If you can open the page in a browser, compare what it shows with the 0.0015% on CoinGecko, because a figure that low on a venue this size usually reflects a data-entry convention rather than a price list.

How Do SafeTrade and MEXC Compare on Trust, Reserves and Regulator Records?

On the tracker MEXC leads 9 out of 10 to 2, on reserves MEXC publishes monthly audits while SafeTrade's field reads unavailable, and on regulator records the picture inverts: our scan found no notice naming safetrade.com, whereas the Seychelles FSA and Dubai's VARA have both published documents about MEXC's operator, linked below.
CoinGecko's score puts half its weight on liquidity, 20% on cybersecurity, 15% on regulation, 10% on incidents and 5% on proof of reserves, according to the weighting CoinGecko publishes.
SafeTrade loses on the first three: Low liquidity, a cybersecurity row marked data unavailable, and a regulation row that reads none identified, with no incident recorded.
On MEXC's row the liquidity grade is Moderate, the cybersecurity rating is three stars with a penetration test and a bug bounty recorded, and the incident field is empty.
On reserves, CoinGecko tracked about $618 million for MEXC and nothing for SafeTrade, and MEXC's September 2026 Hacken report, from a 10 September snapshot, showed 12,202.13 BTC held against 4,106.57 owed, a 297% ratio, with USDT at 119%, USDC at 111% and ETH at 111%.
Balances can be checked against the Merkle tree on the MEXC proof-of-reserves page, and what 81 breaches taught us about reserves explains why that check exists.
On regulation, the UK FCA warning list, the Hong Kong SFC alert list and Dubai VARA's regulatory notices contained no entry for safetrade.com when we checked on 6 October 2026, although two firms trading under the SafeTrade name on other domains do appear on the FCA list.
The regulation row on MEXC's page is not blank: it names an international crypto licence from Comoros, under a framework CoinGecko grades defined but unproven.
No licence under the Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, 2024 has been issued to MX Global Ltd, the company the Seychelles Financial Services Authority identifies behind MEXC, and enforcement measures are being initiated, according to the FSA's press release of 26 May 2026.
Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority fined MX Global Ltd on 22 June 2026 for serving Dubai customers without a licence between 2022 and April 2026 and for onboarding users without meeting UAE know-your-customer requirements, noting that the company cooperated and intends to seek a licence.
Put the two records next to each other before you choose: SafeTrade has no regulator document and no reserve evidence, MEXC has two regulator documents and a monthly audit.

So Who Belongs on MEXC, and Who Still Needs SafeTrade?

Traders who place market orders, want a fee schedule they can read before depositing, or need reserve evidence belong on MEXC, while Pearl holders and anyone whose exit route runs through SafeTrade's USDC/USDT book still need an account there, and residents of the United States and the United Kingdom need neither, because MEXC does not serve them.
Start on MEXC with a small limit order, which costs nothing as a maker, and confirm the fee line before moving a balance across.
Keep SafeTrade for PRL/USDT and the other pairs it lists that larger venues do not, and move everything else.
A wider field, with MEXC placed among nine others, is in the ten exchanges we ranked this year.
Australian readers sit with US and UK readers here: use this page as information and trade on a venue licensed at home.
Across the EU and EEA, MEXC operates without MiCA authorization, and its Dutch customers have until 31 October 2026 to offboard before accounts close on 16 November 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is SafeTrade better than MEXC?
Only for Pearl (PRL), which CoinGecko tracks on just two exchanges, SafeTrade and BigONE.
On depth, published fees, Trust Score and reserve evidence, MEXC leads on every count as of 6 October 2026.

CoinGecko shows 0.0015% for SafeTrade, a figure we could not confirm.

How deep is SafeTrade's order book?
Thin on the buy side: $540 of asks sat within 2% of the PRL/USDT price on 6 October 2026, and $2,527 on ETH/USDT.
USDC/USDT was the exception, with about $1.05 million.

In eligible regions MEXC's fiat routes are bank transfer, card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and crypto deposits are free.

How do I transfer my balance from SafeTrade to MEXC?
Yes, by withdrawing to a MEXC deposit address on a network both exchanges list, after a small test transfer.
Registering on MEXC takes a few minutes and gives you that address.

Risk Warning and Regional Notice

Perpetual futures and leverage amplify both gains and losses, and positions can be liquidated for the full margin amount.
At 500x, a move of roughly 0.2% against a position can trigger liquidation, so high tiers suit only experienced traders with strict risk controls.
This article is informational for readers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, where the platforms discussed may not be available or authorised.
In the EU and EEA, MEXC is not authorized under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
The Dutch regulator AFM has placed MEXC on its register of non-compliant entities, which ESMA republishes, and readers in those regions should factor this status into any decision.
In a May 26, 2026 press release, the Seychelles Financial Services Authority said the company it identifies as operating the MEXC platform does not hold a licence under its Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, 2024, that it is initiating enforcement measures, and that the public should exercise caution when dealing with the platform.
In a June 22, 2026 notice of fines, Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority said the entity operating as MEXC had served customers in Dubai without a licence from 2022 to April 2026 and onboarded users without meeting UAE know-your-customer requirements, and that it cooperated, complied with cease-and-desist orders and intends to seek a licence.
Nothing here is investment advice, and fees, leverage tiers, and availability change, so confirm current terms on each platform's official pages before trading.
