MEXC vs KCEX: What Does MEXC Add for the Extra 3 USDT on a 15,000 USDT BTC Trade?

KCEX is cheaper: its standard rates are 0% on spot and 0% maker, 0.01% taker on USDT-M perpetuals, so a 15,000 USDT BTC trade in and out at market costs 3 USDT there and 6 on MEXC.
MEXC matches it on ETH perpetuals and is our pick for verifiable reserves, a longer coin list and a 500x ceiling.

Key Takeaways
  • KCEX charges less, at 0% on spot and 0% maker and 0.01% taker on USDT-M perpetuals, and its zero-fee page calls these standard rates rather than a promotion.
  • Opening and closing a 15,000 USDT BTC perpetual at market costs 3 USDT on KCEX and 6 USDT on MEXC, while the same ETH trade costs 3 USDT on both.
  • MEXC is our pick for traders who want to verify reserves, because Hacken audits them every month while CoinGecko lists KCEX's reserve data as unavailable.
  • CoinGecko scored MEXC 9 out of 10 and KCEX 6 out of 10 on October 7, 2026, and counted 1,450 coins on MEXC against 820 on KCEX.
  • MEXC documents up to 500x on BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT, while KCEX's futures guide puts its ceiling at 125x.
  • Canadian regulators have warned about both, Alberta's about KCEX and Ontario's and Québec's about MEXC, and MEXC also carries 2026 actions from the Seychelles FSA and Dubai's VARA.

KCEX sells itself on one line of numbers: nothing on spot, nothing on futures maker orders and 0.01% on futures taker orders.
A fee schedule tells you what a trade costs, not whether the exchange holds the assets behind your balance, and on that second question the two exchanges publish very different evidence.
This KCEX vs MEXC comparison turns the fee gap into dollars, then checks reserves, coin lists, leverage, verification rules and regulator records.

Why Would a Trader Pay 3 USDT More per BTC Trade on MEXC?

To trade where the reserves behind each balance can be checked, since Hacken audits MEXC's reserves every month while CoinGecko lists KCEX's reserve data as unavailable.
On ETH perpetuals the fee gap closes, because both exchanges charge 0% maker and 0.01% taker, so the audit costs an ETH trader nothing extra.
A zero-fee schedule removes one cost.
It says nothing about the larger risk a trader carries, which is whether the exchange holds enough assets to pay back every balance.
CoinGecko's KCEX page states that exchange reserve data is currently unavailable, and we found no proof-of-reserves report on the KCEX pages we could read.
On MEXC, a Merkle-tree tool on the proof-of-reserves page shows whether your own account sits inside a total that Hacken audits each month.
The September report counted 297% of users' BTC, 119% of their USDT and 111% of both their USDC and ETH.
CoinGecko tracked about 618 million USD in MEXC reserves on October 7, 2026, and scored MEXC 9 out of 10 against KCEX's 6.
Now put a price on that evidence with one trade.
Open a 15,000 USDT BTC perpetual at market and close it the same way, and KCEX charges 1.50 USDT on each side, 3 USDT in all.
MEXC charges double: 0.02% on BTCUSDT, so 3 USDT a side and 6 USDT in all.
Enter with a limit order instead and neither exchange charges anything to open, which leaves 1.50 USDT on KCEX against 3 USDT on MEXC.
Over 52 weekly market round trips, KCEX's bill comes to 156 USDT and MEXC's to 312 USDT, a difference of 3 USDT a week.
Switch the trade to ETH and the gap disappears.
MEXC's ETHUSDT charges 0% maker and 0.01% taker, the same rate KCEX applies to every USDT-M perpetual.
The same 15,000 USDT ETH round trip costs 3 USDT on either exchange, and a year of weekly trades 156 USDT on each.
MEXC's rates here come from the MEXC fee page as read on September 10, 2026, and KCEX's from its zero-fee page dated July 26, 2026.
Two exceptions push MEXC's side of the sum higher.
Traders in regions on MEXC's standard tier, 0.01% maker and 0.04% taker, would pay 12 USDT for each 15,000 USDT market round trip, four times what KCEX charges.
An API bot pays more again, because MEXC bills API orders 0.06% maker and 0.08% taker, so the round trip costs 24 USDT.
None of these figures includes funding payments or slippage.

The MEXC View

We publish this page, so read this section as MEXC's own case, starting with where KCEX is ahead of us.
KCEX charges nothing on spot trades or withdrawals, bills takers 0.01% on every USDT-M perpetual against our 0.02% on BTCUSDT, and has no recorded incident on CoinGecko.
Our case rests on what a trader can check: a monthly Hacken audit with a Merkle proof for your own balance, the same 0% and 0.01% as KCEX on ETHUSDT, about 1,450 coins against 820, and a 500x tier set out in an official announcement.
If you only trade spot, withdraw often in small amounts or run bots through an API, KCEX is the cheaper choice and our case narrows to reserves and range.
For the costs and limits this page leaves out, see our MEXC review and the catch it names.

Which Exchange Leads on Each of Our Six Review Dimensions?

KCEX leads on fees, withdrawal costs and the simplicity of one futures rate, while MEXC leads on reserve evidence, coin count, leverage ceiling, fiat options and CoinGecko score.
On regulator records both carry Canadian warnings, and MEXC has more on file elsewhere, all listed further down.
The note under the table dates every source, since KCEX's figures and MEXC's were read from different pages.
The reasons behind these six rows are set out in how we score exchanges.

Where Is KCEX Cheaper, and by How Much?

KCEX is cheaper on spot trades, withdrawals and BTC perpetuals, and on any other contract that MEXC prices above KCEX's flat 0.01% taker rate.
The two tie on ETH perpetuals, and the gap per trade runs from 1 USDT on a 2,000 USDT spot buy to 27 USDT on a 15,000 USDT round trip in MEXC's priciest contracts.
On spot, KCEX charges 0% to both sides of every pair, while MEXC charges takers 0.05%, or 0.04% when the fee is paid in MX.
A 2,000 USDT spot purchase at market therefore costs 1 USDT on MEXC, 0.80 USDT with MX, and nothing on KCEX.
Withdrawals follow the same pattern, with KCEX's zero-fee page promising no fee on any supported network.
KCEX's October 2024 announcement that launched the offer limited it to each user's first 100 withdrawals a month, so frequent withdrawers should check the fee shown on screen.
MEXC charges per network.
Withdrawing Bitcoin costs 0.00002 BTC, the figure recorded in our 12-exchange fee index on August 28, 2026.
Futures are where the two schedules part ways.
KCEX applies 0.01% to takers on every USDT-M perpetual, while MEXC prices each contract within a published band that reaches 0.040% maker and 0.100% taker.
On a contract at the top of that band, a 15,000 USDT market round trip would cost 30 USDT on MEXC against 3 USDT on KCEX.
Automated traders also pay more on MEXC, whose API schedule bills 0.06% maker and 0.08% taker against KCEX's published 0.01% taker and free maker orders.
Where both schedules sit among the large exchanges is mapped in our ranking of futures rates at major venues.

How Far Apart Are KCEX and MEXC on Coin Range and Leverage?

MEXC lists about 1.8 times as many coins, with 1,450 coins and 1,834 spot pairs on CoinGecko on October 7, 2026 against KCEX's 820 and 830.
Its leverage ceiling is four times KCEX's, at 500x on BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT against the 125x maximum in KCEX's futures guide.
KCEX's homepage speaks of more than 1,000 altcoins, but this page uses CoinGecko's count for both exchanges so that one method applies to each.
Coin count says little about how early new tokens arrive, which our study of which exchanges list new coins first measures.
An official MEXC announcement dated April 23, 2025 sets the 500x tier and lets four more pairs, SOL, XRP, DOGE and ADA against USDT, reach 250x.
The tier is not offered in ten regions, the UK and Canada among them, or in copy trading.
KCEX's futures guide, dated August 27, 2026, says leverage reaches 125x and varies by trading instrument.
At either ceiling, a small price move against the position can wipe out its margin, as the risk notice at the end of this page explains.

Can You Check the Reserves Behind Your Balance on Either Exchange?

On MEXC, yes: Hacken's monthly audit and a Merkle-tree check let each user confirm their balance is part of the reserves counted.
For KCEX, CoinGecko shows no reserve data and we found no reserve report, and its CORE3 security rating is one star against MEXC's three, though neither exchange has an incident on record.
An audit and a tracker answer different questions.
A tracker such as CoinGecko estimates what sits in an exchange's known wallets, while an audit compares those assets with what the exchange owes its users.
The Merkle check adds a third step, letting you confirm that your own account was among the liabilities the auditor counted.
CoinGecko dates MEXC to 2018 and KCEX to 2021.
Those three extra years give MEXC the longer record, while KCEX's clean incident history is a real point in its favour and reserve evidence remains the gap that keeps it behind on trust.
How often exchanges publish reserve proof, and in what form, is compared in our survey of exchanges that publish proof of reserves.

What Do Verification and Withdrawals Involve on KCEX and MEXC?

KCEX's verification asks for an official ID and a photo of you holding it, and its guide sets a 30 BTC daily withdrawal limit after basic verification.
MEXC verifies accounts at Primary and Advanced levels, plus address and institutional checks, and takes fiat through cards, bank transfers and P2P.
KCEX's user agreement, updated July 17, 2026, lists the details it collects: name, address, date of birth, nationality and an official identity document such as a passport.
The same agreement asks for a photo of the user holding that document in front of their chest, along with a phone number or email address.
Its privacy policy adds that KCEX must identify and verify customers to comply with anti-money-laundering laws.
KCEX's identity-verification guide of November 2, 2024 puts the daily withdrawal limit for basic verification at 30 BTC.
MEXC's KYC article, last updated June 20, 2025, lists Primary and Advanced verification, the second with facial recognition, alongside address and institutional verification.
That article gives no withdrawal amount for each level, which is one place where KCEX's guide is more specific.
For funding, CoinGecko lists no fiat deposit method for KCEX, while MEXC accepts bank transfers, cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, P2P trades and third-party providers.
Both names turn up on unofficial sites with unrelated domains, so type each exchange's address yourself before you sign in.

What Do Regulators Have on File for KCEX and MEXC?

Canadian regulators have warned about both: Alberta's securities regulator added KCEX to its Investment Caution List on April 8, 2026, and Québec's and Ontario's regulators have published warnings on MEXC.
MEXC also faces 2026 actions from the Seychelles FSA and Dubai's VARA, which makes its regulatory record the longer one.
The Alberta Securities Commission says KCEX and its two websites are not registered to trade in or advise on securities or derivatives in Alberta.
KCEX's user agreement, updated July 17, 2026, lists 19 restricted countries and regions, with Canada and the United States among them.
Québec's Autorité des marchés financiers published its warning on MEXC on December 21, 2023, saying MEXC is not registered with the AMF and may not solicit investors in Québec.
The Ontario Securities Commission's warning of May 30, 2025, carried in IOSCO's I-SCAN alert database, says MEXC is not registered to trade in securities in Ontario.
In a press release of May 26, 2026, the Seychelles Financial Services Authority said it is initiating enforcement measures against MX Global Ltd, the company it names as operator of the MEXC platform, for virtual asset services carried on without a licence.
Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority followed with a fine in a notice of June 22, 2026, finding that the company had served Dubai customers without a licence between 2022 and April 2026 and had not met UAE know-your-customer requirements when onboarding users.
According to the same notice, the company cooperated with VARA throughout, complied when ordered to stop and has said it will seek a licence.

Which Traders Should Choose KCEX, and Which MEXC?

Pick KCEX if the lowest fee decides it: spot-only trading, frequent withdrawals, API bots and market orders on BTC perpetuals all cost less there.
Pick MEXC if you trade ETH or BTC perpetuals and want audited reserves, a longer coin list or leverage above 125x, at 3 USDT more per 15,000 USDT BTC round trip.
Choose MEXC for ETH perpetuals at the same rate as KCEX, BTC perpetuals with a reserve audit behind them, a wider altcoin list and fiat on-ramps.
Choose KCEX if every basis point counts and you are comfortable trading without published reserve evidence.
Before committing, place a small ETHUSDT order on MEXC and confirm the fee charged is 0% maker or 0.01% taker, since some regions pay the standard tier.
For a wider field, the six KCEX alternatives we compared each come with fee and reserve data.
Readers in the US, UK or Australia get stronger protection from an exchange authorised in their home country.
Readers in Canada should note that KCEX's own agreement excludes the country and that provincial regulators have warned about both exchanges, so a platform registered with your provincial securities regulator is the safer choice.
EU and EEA readers should read the closing notice, since MEXC has no authorisation under MiCA.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is KCEX cheaper than MEXC?
Yes on spot, withdrawals and BTC perpetuals, where KCEX charges 0% on spot and 0.01% futures taker against MEXC's 0.05% and 0.02%.
On ETH perpetuals the two tie at 0% maker and 0.01% taker.

Are KCEX's 0% fees a limited-time promotion?
Not according to KCEX, whose zero-fee page, dated July 26, 2026, calls them standard platform rates with no volume cap or expiry date.
It adds that any change will be announced in advance.

What is KCEX's maximum leverage?
KCEX's futures guide of August 27, 2026 puts it at 125x, varying by contract.
On MEXC the cap is 500x for the BTC and ETH USDT perpetuals, outside ten excluded regions and copy trading.

Does KCEX have proof of reserves?
We found none: CoinGecko shows KCEX's reserve data as unavailable, and no KCEX page we could read links to a reserve report.
MEXC publishes a monthly Hacken audit and lets each user confirm their own balance with a Merkle proof.

Is KCEX safe?
CoinGecko rated KCEX 6 out of 10 with no recorded incident on October 7, 2026, and Alberta's securities regulator put it on its caution list in April 2026.
MEXC scored 9 out of 10 and carries warnings from Ontario's and Québec's regulators.

Is KCEX connected to MEXC?
No.
KCEX is a separate exchange, and MEXC has no ownership, team or operational relationship with it.

Does KCEX require identity verification?
KCEX's privacy policy says it must verify customers under anti-money-laundering laws, and basic verification carries a 30 BTC daily withdrawal limit.
MEXC runs Primary and Advanced verification, with address and institutional checks on top.

Can people in Canada or the United States use KCEX?
KCEX's user agreement lists both countries among the regions it does not serve.
Residents of either country are better served by an exchange that holds local registration or authorisation.

What is the safest way to switch from KCEX to MEXC?
Settle open futures positions, then send a small test withdrawal from KCEX on a network that your MEXC deposit address supports.
Open your MEXC account before you start, so the address is waiting when the test lands and the rest can follow.

Risk Warning and Regional Notice

Perpetual futures and leverage amplify both gains and losses, and positions can be liquidated for the full margin amount.
At 500x, a move of roughly 0.2% against a position can trigger liquidation, so high tiers suit only experienced traders with strict risk controls.
This article is informational for readers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, where the platforms discussed may not be available or authorised.
In the EU and EEA, MEXC is not authorized under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
The Dutch regulator AFM has placed MEXC on its register of non-compliant entities, which ESMA republishes, and readers in those regions should factor this status into any decision.
In a May 26, 2026 press release, the Seychelles Financial Services Authority said the company it identifies as operating the MEXC platform does not hold a licence under its Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, 2024, that it is initiating enforcement measures, and that the public should exercise caution when dealing with the platform.
In a June 22, 2026 notice of fines, Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority said the entity operating as MEXC had served customers in Dubai without a licence from 2022 to April 2026 and onboarded users without meeting UAE know-your-customer requirements, and that it cooperated, complied with cease-and-desist orders and intends to seek a licence.
Nothing here is investment advice, and fees, leverage tiers, and availability change, so confirm current terms on each platform's official pages before trading.
