โทเคโนมิกส์ TONCOIN (TON)

The Open Network (TON) utilizes Toncoin as its native utility token. Originally launched with a fixed supply, the network has transitioned through various phases of distribution and now operates under a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus model with specific inflationary and deflationary characteristics.

Issuance Mechanism

Toncoin was initially launched with a total supply of 5 billion tokens. The issuance history is divided into two distinct phases:

• Initial Distribution (Historical): Approximately 4.92 billion TON (96.66% of the supply) were pre-mined and placed into "Proof-of-Work (POW) Givers" smart contracts. Users "mined" these tokens by solving computational puzzles. This initial mining phase concluded in June 2022 when the last of these pools were depleted.
• Current Emission: The network now employs an annual inflation rate of 0.60%. New tokens are progressively minted as block creation subsidies to reward validators. As of November 22, 2023, the total supply had increased to approximately 5.09 billion TON.
• Subsidies: The network subsidizes block creation by adding 1.7 TON for each masterchain block and 1 TON for each basechain block to the reward pool.

Usage and Incentive Mechanism

Toncoin serves as the primary medium of exchange and security instrument within the ecosystem:

• Transaction Fees: Users pay gas fees in TON for all network operations, including computation, storage, and message importing.
• Staking Rewards: Validators earn rewards from two sources: the 0.60% annual inflation (block subsidies) and a portion of the transaction fees. The total reward pool per validation cycle (~18 hours) is approximately 40,000 TON.
• Governance: Tokenholders can vote on configuration changes (such as fee adjustments) via the Governance Portal. Voting power is typically "weighted balance," where power is proportional to the TON held.
• Deflationary Mechanism: In June 2023, a real-time burn mechanism was implemented. 50% of all network fees (transaction and storage fees) are permanently burned, which acts as a counter-inflationary force as network activity increases.

Locking Mechanism and Unlocking Time

The TON ecosystem utilizes several tools to manage token liquidity and long-term alignment:

• The Locker: A smart contract that allows users to lock their coins for an extended period. This mechanism can be configured to provide rewards in exchange for the locking action.
• Vesting Toolkits: Developed for working teams to manage the linear release of tokens over time.
• Frozen Early Miners: A significant portion of the supply (20.9%) is currently categorized as "Frozen," representing tokens from the early mining era that are subject to specific restriction schedules.
• Validator Requirements: To participate in network security, a validator must have a minimum of 300,000 TON (self-staked or nominated). Nominators must stake a minimum of 10,000 TON to participate in a pool.
• Slashing: Validators can be penalized for malicious or idle behavior with a "standard fine" of 101 TON, which acts as a negative incentive against network disruption.
