PANews reported on March 3 that, according to The Block, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Boston has filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit seeking to recover approximately 327,800 USDT. These funds are allegedly linked to a cryptocurrency scam targeting Massachusetts residents on a dating app.
The investigation revealed that the case began in the fall of 2024. The victim met the suspect, who called herself "Linda Brown," on a dating app and was lured into participating in a so-called "cryptocurrency investment" after several weeks of communication. The victim sent funds to wallets controlled by the suspect or her accomplices, only realizing she had been scammed when attempts to withdraw funds failed. Prosecutors stated that the stolen funds circulated through multiple wallets and were converted into USDT, ultimately used for money laundering.
