Bitcoin Price Prediction: VanEck Reveals How High BTC Can Hit in 2050

Key Insights:

  • VanEck eyes $2.9 million BTC price by 2050, according to a recent Bitcoin price prediction.
  • Wider adoption as a settlement asset for both international and domestic trade, along with growing interest from central banks, would be key to that long-term rise.
  • Bitcoin’s short-term moves will continue to follow shifts in global liquidity and market leverage

A senior VanEck analyst gave a superbullish Bitcoin price prediction of $2.9 million by 2050. He attributed the forecast to Bitcoin’s steady movement beyond its role as a speculative asset and into the heart of global finance.

The analyst noted in a report that the digital asset could handle between 5% and 10% of global trade by 2050. It could also secure a small but meaningful place in central bank reserves.

As a result, Bitcoin’s role as a long-term monetary hedge is becoming harder to ignore. The analyst explained that wider use in both international and domestic trade would strengthen its strategic value in a world facing rising debt and persistent currency pressure.

Bitcoin Price Prediction to $2.9 Million – VanEck

A recent report by VanEck digital assets researchers gave a Bitcoin price prediction of $2.9 million by 2050, as mainstream finance absorbs the cryptocurrency.  Mathew Sigel and Patrick Bush wrote in the research that wider adoption as a settlement asset for both international and domestic trade, along with growing interest from central banks, would be key to that long-term rise.

According to the firm’s projections, the target price is based on a 15% annual growth rate. In this scenario, Bitcoin would settle between 5% and 10% of global trade and around 5% of domestic transactions by 2050.

More importantly, the analysts pointed to deeper forces at work. They said expanding global liquidity and ongoing currency debasement are likely to push Bitcoin higher over time. That could position it not as a short-term trade, but as a durable hedge against weakening monetary systems.

According to the report, BTC/USD short-term moves will continue to follow shifts in global liquidity and market leverage. However, its real value over time will come from deeper flaws in the sovereign debt system, which Bitcoin is increasingly positioned to offset.

In this context, analysts estimated that central banks could eventually allocate approximately 2.5% of their reserves to Bitcoin. At a price of $2.9 million, they added, Bitcoin would account for roughly 1.66% of all global financial assets.

Even so, the analysts showed there’s a big range of possible outcomes. Their base‑case forecast puts BTC price at $2.9 million by 2050, but a cautious model sees it around $130,000. Moreover, a very optimistic one pushes BTC as high as $52.4 million.

The cryptocurrency is already being used in some real trade, especially in countries facing sanctions like Venezuela, Iran, and Russia.

Multi-Year Bitcoin Price Projections By Top Firms

Apart from VanEck’s BTC/USD forecast, Bitwise released a long-term projection for 2035, putting Bitcoin at $1.3 million. Moreover, Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest gave a Bitcoin price prediction of $300,000 to $1.5 million by 2030 if the adoption of cryptocurrency continues to grow.

Standard Chartered provided a BTC price prediction of $150,000 by the end of this year. Bernstein predicted a target of $200,000 by 2027, while Citi noted a base case of $143,000.

The trend is indicative of a long-term bullish Bitcoin price prediction, driven by strong institutional demand and limited supply, which could push Bitcoin higher over time. Early ETF inflows support this idea. If this continues and corporate buyers stay active, these long-term targets start to feel realistic, not just speculative.
