Why The US Power Grid Is In Dire Need of New Transformers

The hallmark of the 21st century has been the rapid innovation since the turn of the century. Anything from the innovation of the portable cell phone to the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) in recent years. While innovation is almost always a positive thing for society, the inventions since the 2000’s almost always have 1 thing in common: the need for power. When it comes to using a cell phone, electricity is required in just about every step of the process. From charging the cellphone to powering the router to host an internet connection to powering the website’s servers themselves, it all needs electricity and oftentimes quite a lot of it. Unfortunately, the US power grid has not innovated at the same pace as the rest of US society.

What Keeps The Power Grid From Keeping Up

As of 2025, 70% of transmission lines are from the 20th century and near the end of their service date. Similarly, it is estimated that 55% of residential transformers are from the 1980’s or earlier and are also approaching the end of their service life. This statistic can be problematic for a few reasons.

Firstly, aged machinery simply does not work like it did when it was new. After having power run through it for several decades, these transformers and transmission lines are liable to have much larger and more comprehensive breakdowns. This not only makes for a much more complicated repair process, but means that that entire grid will have lower function, if it works at all.

Furthermore, the US power grid is not in a perfect vacuum. Because the power grid is located outside it is susceptible to weather damage over time. In hotter states, natural elements like year-round heat can beat down on transmission lines and cause them to overheat and fail more frequently. Similarly, states with frequent natural disasters like hurricanes or tornadoes will also have power grids more prone to damage during and after these extreme weather events.

The Steadily Growing Need For Power

This ties into another major factor. Not only is the US power grid old and battered, but it is also subject to an uptick in power consumption. Because the strain on these old transformers and power lines is only getting higher, certain parts of the grid can get pushed too far and simply give out. As the future creeps forward, this problem is only set to intensify and cause more frequent outages across the country.

As the world continues to value electricity more and more over time, the need to update the US power grid is proving evident. However, newer infrastructure has a chance to do much more than simply replace its outdated counterparts. The new transformers have a chance to make much needed improvements while future-proofing the US power grid.

The ELSCO Difference

For example, the transformers from ELSCO not only provide new infrastructure, but they were conceived with the modern world in mind. These newer models were built for their overall capacity to be more flexible than what the current transformers can offer. This both reduces the risk of overloaded transformers and helps these transformers keep up with future energy demand.

Besides being a much-needed update to the power grid, ELSCO transformers are also 99.4% efficient compared to these older transformers. This could help reduce the amount of electricity being lost and wasted every year. Not only would this ultimately help to prevent outages, but can also help keep a more consistent supply of electricity from the US power grid to compete with growing energy demand.

The Bottom Line For the U.S. Power Grid

As the future of technology draws nearer, the amount of electricity powering it has become a pain point. When it comes to the future artificial intelligence (AI) specifically, the world seems to be ramping up its implementation and overall usage. This means that the amount of electricity being requested from the grid is expected to grow exponentially. Because of this, it seems more evident now than ever that the US power grid is desperately in need of an upgrade. While the exact details of the future remain unclear, the past few decades show a clear indicator. Innovation needs power, and much more of it than we can currently offer. Upgrading and maintaining the US power grid is an integral step to this county’s future.

U.S. Court Finds Pastor Found Guilty in $3M Crypto Scam

The post U.S. Court Finds Pastor Found Guilty in $3M Crypto Scam appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Crime 18 September 2025 | 04:05 A Colorado judge has brought closure to one of the state’s most unusual cryptocurrency scandals, declaring INDXcoin to be a fraudulent operation and ordering its founders, Denver pastor Eli Regalado and his wife Kaitlyn, to repay $3.34 million. The ruling, issued by District Court Judge Heidi L. Kutcher, came nearly two years after the couple persuaded hundreds of people to invest in their token, promising safety and abundance through a Christian-branded platform called the Kingdom Wealth Exchange. The scheme ran between June 2022 and April 2023 and drew in more than 300 participants, many of them members of local church networks. Marketing materials portrayed INDXcoin as a low-risk gateway to prosperity, yet the project unraveled almost immediately. The exchange itself collapsed within 24 hours of launch, wiping out investors’ money. Despite this failure—and despite an auditor’s damning review that gave the system a “0 out of 10” for security—the Regalados kept presenting it as a solid opportunity. Colorado regulators argued that the couple’s faith-based appeal was central to the fraud. Securities Commissioner Tung Chan said the Regalados “dressed an old scam in new technology” and used their standing within the Christian community to convince people who had little knowledge of crypto. For him, the case illustrates how modern digital assets can be exploited to replicate classic Ponzi-style tactics under a different name. Court filings revealed where much of the money ended up: luxury goods, vacations, jewelry, a Range Rover, high-end clothing, and even dental procedures. In a video that drew worldwide attention earlier this year, Eli Regalado admitted the funds had been spent, explaining that a portion went to taxes while the remainder was used for a home renovation he claimed was divinely inspired. The judgment not only confirms that INDXcoin qualifies as a…
