Barbara Streisand supports Alex Vindman in Florida's pivotal race

EGOT-winning singer and actress Barbra Streisand lent her star power to retired Army lieutenant colonel Alex Vindman's Democratic Senate campaign in Florida.

During a fundraising appeal, Streisand warned the Trump administration is "raising costs, undermining our democracy, and putting lives in danger."

The legendary performer framed the contest as transcending partisan politics, arguing protecting the country is no longer a Republican or Democratic issue.

She pitched Vindman's race as potentially decisive for Senate control, citing polls showing competitiveness.

Vindman, a key witness for President Donald Trump's first impeachment who testified about Ukraine pressure, is challenging Republican Sen. Ashley Moody, appointed to fill Marco Rubio's seat.

Vindman has vowed to be Trump's worst nightmare. However, Florida has trended firmly Republican with no Democratic Senate winner since 2012.

The Cook Political Report rates the seat a Solid R. And to win it, Vindman must first clear an August 18 Democratic primary, making the race a long shot despite celebrity backing.
