A former White House cardiologist has criticized RFK Jr. over a statement regarding the alleged dangers of eating processed foods.

The Secretary of Health and Human Services made the claim during an appearance on Fox News, at which he was seated with former boxer Mike Tyson. RFK Jr. claimed that people should avoid eating foods in packaging, a claim ridiculed by Jonathan Reiner, who served as Dick Cheney's cardiologist during the vice president's time in office.

RFK Jr. told Fox News, "If it comes from a package, you should be suspicious. If it comes from the ground, if it comes from the water, if it comes from the air, it's probably the right thing to eat."

Reiner has since replied to the claim, suggesting the Secretary of Health is wrong to suggest packaged foods are not good for you. Attaching an image of salads bagged on a supermarket shelf, Reiner posted a response to RFK Jr.

He wrote, "Don’t be suspicious just because food is sold in a package. Read the label."

It is not the first time Reiner has taken issue with the Secretary of Health, previously suggesting RFK Jr. is not fit to hold the position.

RFK Jr., who has served Trump's administration as the Secretary of Health and Human Services throughout the president's second term in the White House, made an appearance on Theo Von's podcast earlier this week. During his appearance, he made a claim about his past drug use, which made him unafraid of germs.

RFK Jr said, "It's just bad for my life. I said this when we came in, I don't care whatever happens, I don't need it every day. I said I'm not scared of a germ; I used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats. I know this disease will kill me if I don't treat it, which means, for me, going to meetings every day."

This admission is, according to Reiner, a sign RFK Jr. needs to go. He wrote on X, "Not an ideal resume item for an official who directs U.S. health policy."
