'Serious federal offense': Ghislaine Maxwell may have opened herself to new charges

Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted child sex trafficker best known for being the right-hand woman of fellow convicted child predator Jeffrey Epstein, may have committed immigration fraud, according to a report by the news editor at Migrant Insider.

“Newly-examined court documents published by the Department of Justice show that Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite convicted in 2021 of sex trafficking minors, appears to have provided false answers on her U.S. citizenship application in 2002, potentially exposing her to immigration fraud charges,” wrote journalist Pablo Manriquez.

Manriquez pointed out that on her citizenship application form in 2001, Maxwell answered “no” to two questions in which the accurate answer would have been “yes.” The first question was, “Have you EVER committed a crime or offense for which you were NOT arrested?” The second question was, “Have you EVER been a prostitute, or procured anyone for prostitution?”

“Lying on an N-400 form is a serious federal offense,” one immigration law expert told Migrant Insider while requesting anonymity. “Material misrepresentations—especially about criminal conduct—can be grounds for revocation of citizenship and potential criminal prosecution for immigration fraud.” The penalty for this crime can include up to 25 years in prison and denaturalization. Maxwell is already serving a 20-year sentence for her previous conviction, which she and her attorneys are appealing. Maxwell has also conveyed through her attorneys that she would be willing to testify if Trump grants her clemency.

As the Epstein scandal continues to beset President Donald Trump, Maxwell herself has tried to leverage the situation to her advantage. Earlier this week she refused to cooperate with the House Oversight Committee unless she was granted clemency, and in December she was reportedly “throwing a wrench” into efforts to declassify the Epstein files because they could prejudice her chances at a new trial.

“Maxwell does not take a position on the government’s request to unseal grand jury transcripts,” her attorneys argued, but added that “to do so could imperil a retrial if her challenge, called a habeas petition, prevails.”

Maxwell is also reported to receive unusual privileges in her prison that are granted exclusively to her. These include using the prison chapel instead of common areas for private visits, having unlimited toilet paper instead of just two roles per week, receiving free drinks and snacks for herself and her lawyers and bringing her own electronic devices into her cell. Overall this is considered “VIP treatment” for any convicted felon, much less a child sex trafficker.

In addition to Trump being close friends with Epstein, Maxwell is reported to have had a close friendship with First Lady Melania Trump.

“Dear G! How are you?” Melania asked in an email to Maxwell in October 2002. “Nice story about JE in NY mag. You look great in the picture.”

In a New York Magazine article that ran at roughly the same time, Trump said about Epstein that “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

From seashells to traveler’s checks, from relational databases to today’s on-chain assets. You could even joke that VanEck’s first gold mutual funds were the original ‘tokenized gold,’” Juan C. This extends from regulatory proximity to product experiments to founders building the next phase of crypto infrastructure. Asked about key investment priorities, Lopez highlighted stablecoins. “We care deeply about three questions: How do we accelerate stablecoin ubiquity? What will users want to do with them once highly distributed? And what net new assets can we construct now that we have sophisticated market infrastructure?” Lopez added. The white paper remains the sole community consensus and standard for UXLINK’s token economy,” the project team wrote on X. The account executed a delegateCall, removed the existing administrator role, and added a new multisig owner. After making the change, the hacker moved at least $4 million in USDT, $500,000 in USDC, 3.7 wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), and 25 ETH. Onchain evidence also showed that the attacker sold UXLINK tokens on decentralized exchanges using six separate wallets. These trades netted at least 6,732 ETH, valued at roughly $28.1 million.
