Racy Ghislaine Maxwell emails lead to calls for Olympics committee chair to step down

Racy emails between Casey Wasserman, the LA 2028 Olympics committee chair and CEO of talent agency Wasserman Media Group, with Jeffrey Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell have put him in hot water with a popular artist he represents.

Bethany Cosentino, the frontwoman of rock band Best Coast, has released a statement demanding Wasserman step down and that the agency changes its name, Pitchfork reported. She has asked the agency remove her name and the band's name in the meantime. The agency has represented Cosentino and her band since 2021.

“Ghislaine Maxwell is not a neutral character in a messy story—she is a convicted sex trafficker who helped facilitate the abuse of minors,” Cosentino wrote. “I did not consent to having my name or my career tied to someone with this kind of association to exploitation.”

Consentino is not the only person calling for Wasserman to step down from his leadership roles.

High-ranking politician Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, who represents parts of Southern Los Angeles and coastal communities and works with the organizing group to plan the Olympic Games, urged Wasserman to step down from his role on the Olympic committee

Wasserman was in Italy this week to attend meetings ahead of the Winter Olympics.

Wasserman has said he regretted the email correspondence with Maxwell. He said the exchange happened "long before her horrific crimes came to light."

“I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them,” Wasserman said in the statement.
