The Ethereum network is preparing for the upcoming mainnet launch of ERC-8004, following more than four months of community coordination. The standard has progressed from a proposal to a framework designed to support trustless AI-agent interactions.
Ethereum Community Prepared for ERC-8004 Mainnet Launch
Davide Crapis, an executive AI lead at the Ethereum Foundation, stated that the upcoming mainnet launch of ERC-8004 will catalyze secure, trustless AI-to-AI interactions. Crapis stated, “Ethereum is in the unique position to be the platform that secures and settles AI-to-AI interactions. The ERC-8004 standard is coming to mainnet.”
This improvement is in line with Vitalik Buterin’s philosophy of democratizing sovereignty on the Ethereum network. Moreover, the top-tier AI agents backed by institutional investors require trustless interactions with different AI-models to scale exponentially.
“By enabling discovery and portable reputation, ERC-8004 allows AI agents to interact across organizations ensuring credibility travels everywhere. This unlocks a global market where AI services can interoperate without gatekeepers,” the Ethereum noted.
ERC-8004 is a collaborative effort by the Ethereum community, with contributions from developers including Marco De Rossi of MetaMask, Erik Reppel of Coinbase, and Jordan Ellis of Google.
