President Donald Trump Tuesday admitted that Border Patrol enforcer Greg Bovino might not have been the best fit to enforce immigration raids in Minnesota.

In a Fox News interview on "The Will Cain Show" in Urbandale, Iowa, Trump told the outlet that he had some misgivings about putting Bovino in charge of the ICE operations following the fatal shootings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis.

"Bovino is very good, but he's a pretty out there kind of a guy. It some cases that's good, maybe it wasn't good here," Trump said. "But when I watch some of the people I've been watching over the past few weeks, these are paid insurrectionists, these are paid agitators. These people aren't normal."

Despite his continued claims that people protesting in Minnesota are "paid agitators," Trump has appeared to shift his direction and aggressive immigration tactics following criticism in the wake of the killings.

He sent his "border czar" Tom Homan to Minneapolis, essentially sidelining Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, to oversee the operation, and DHS then announced that highly visible Bovino would leave the state and return to his old position in El Centro, California, where he is reportedly planning to retire.
