Malaysian Doctor Loses RM529,200 to Crypto Scam Investment & Recovery Scheme

A few days ago, a report was shared about how a Malaysian doctor experienced financial losses following his involvement in a fake crypto scam scheme in September of 2025. This fake investment crypto scam caused the doctor to suffer losses of up to RM529,200 after he interacted with different online platforms.

How the Crypto Scam Operated

The details of how the crypto scam operated and the losses incurred were shared in a statement written by Perak Police leader Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin. According to the details, the Ipoh District Police Headquarters received an official complaint recently that came from a 67-year-old man who explained that he has been exposed to continued fraudulent ‘financial promises,’ and it started as far back as late September 2025.

Communication with the scammer started after he received an online investment opportunity shared by someone he knew on TikTok. According to him, the presentation of the investment looked very convincing, and also because of this, he was confident that it would bring him much profit.

After a while of being misled by the persuasive explanations the platform shared, he began to make transfers, and slowly it amounted to about RM320,000. On the other end, the money that was being sent to the platform entered different banking destinations operating under business-style identities.

And for the doctor, all the profits that were supposed to come were never accessible, causing him to be confused and concerned. While all this was going on, information on Facebook came up regarding an organization that was called the ‘International Justice Malaysia.’ According to the police’s report, this organization claimed to be a body of professional justice seekers who help with scam scam resolution.

Seeing this, the doctor got renewed hope that he would get his money back. Along the way, he was contacted by someone who presented himself as a legal practitioner, and additional charges were requested, supposedly linked with some procedural recovery requirements.

In total, the doctor made losses of about RM529,200. RM209,200 was the additional money he paid the legal practitioners, while the other RM320,000 was the money he lost from the fake investment scheme. Overall, the authorities have started their investigations into the case and have also urged the public to be careful and properly check any form of digital investments they make.
