La vicepresidenta de Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, ha acusado a las autoridades venezolanas de buscar el "saqueo del petróleo venezolano" con el apoyo de "gobiernos subordinados a sus intereses" económicos, unas palabras que llegan en pleno aumento de la tensión entre los dos países.

Rodríguez, que ha reivindicado "plantarse frente a los bloqueos" externos, ha lamentado que ya desde los años 90 se empezaron a "tejer los intereses energéticos financieros sobre Venezuela".

Asimismo, ha recordado que el expresidente venezolano Juan Vicente Gómez fue el "primero en entregar el petróleo del país". "Se abren las grandes corporaciones energéticas, las llamadas siete hermanas, y les dicen que se lleven el petróleo de Venezuela. No tienen que pagar regalías, no tienen que pagar impuestos, no tienen que entregar nada; Gómez lo que les dice es: llévense las riquezas petroleras de Venezuela", ha resaltado.

Por su parte, el ministro del Interior venezolano, Diosdado Cabello, ha apuntado a que el verdadero objetivo de Estados Unidos en su supuesta lucha contra el narcotráfico es "intentar apoderarse de los recursos naturales de Venezuela",
