It’s not uncommon for fans of a series to refresh their memory of shows before a new season launches. Stranger Things, for instance, is in Netflix’s top 5 as season 5 launches later today.
However, on Amazon, there has been a huge swell of viewership for Fallout, which began at least a month before the Fallout season 2 release date, which is December 12. Like most Amazon shows, it will not be a binge and will be released week-to-week until February 4, 2026. The show is currently #1 on the service, and has been for some time.
This may also be driven by Fallout season 1’s slew of 17 total Emmy nominations, which were announced earlier this summer, and posted on the graphic for the show on Amazon Prime Video. The full list of nominations is:

- Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup
- Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes
- Outstanding Main Title Design
- Outstanding Music Supervision
- Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Drama Programming
- Outstanding Stunt Performance
- Outstanding Emerging Media Program
That’s a lot! Though I do wonder if this is going to be like The Last of Us, where it did win a number of Emmys, but in none of the major categories it was nominated for. I think there is a zero percent chance that the show wins the big award, Goggins wins or it wins best writing. Which is fine! But there are just way too many good dramas out right now, with frontrunners for almost everything being The Pitt and Severance.
But in terms of viewership? It seems like Fallout season 2 is going to crush in that department if its “catch up” viewing is already doing this well. The first season was a huge hit for Amazon and a rare win for live-action video game adaptations that are getting better in time. A lot better, between this and The Last of Us, among others (watch Twisted Metal!).
