PayPal has secured a partnership with OpenAI to become the first payment wallet integrated into ChatGPT. The deal was completed over the weekend and announced Tuesday morning before PayPal’s quarterly earnings report.

The integration will allow ChatGPT’s more than 700 million weekly users to make purchases directly through the AI platform. PayPal CEO Alex Chriss revealed the partnership details in an exclusive interview with CNBC.

Starting in 2026, PayPal users will see a “Buy with PayPal button” when shopping through ChatGPT. The system lets customers complete transactions using linked bank accounts, credit cards, or existing PayPal balances.
