BAKRI: Two candidates in the five-cornered fight for Bukit Naning have put up a united front on the campaign trail, with Pakatan Harapan’s Ysahrudin Kusni and Perikatan Nasional’s Radzi Amin holding a joint press conference to outline their plans ahead of Saturday’s Johor polls.
Speaking to reporters after observing early voting at Tabika Kemas Batalion 6 PGA Bakri, Ysahrudin said he would leverage his good relationship with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to push for more development in Bukit Naning if elected.
“My relationship with Radzi is also good. I will continue to meet him and get his views, along with the other candidates, for the development of Bukit Naning.
“I’ve also asked Radzi to spare me a few votes so that I can win,” he joked before embracing his opponent.
Radzi, in turn, said he maintained good relations with all the candidates in the race and would continue to do so, regardless of the outcome.
“Although it is a five-cornered contest, the campaign has been conducted smoothly without any provocation.
“I know the PH candidate (Ysahrudin) well. The BN candidate (Ghazali Sabari) was my junior when we were in Umno. The Bersama candidate (Iskandar Alias) is my neighbour, and I also know the independent candidate (S Jeganathan),” he said.
The seat is currently held by BN’s Fuad Tukirin, who won it in the 2022 state election with a 1,535-vote majority.
