The 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution is upon us. We are reminded of these lines from one of the most popular songs of one of the most popular musicals we know: “The time is now. The day is here.”
But what is it, exactly, that we commemorate when we remember EDSA? And is there a hidden legacy of People Power, a once obvious aspect that has become increasingly obscured over time?
