Devcon began in Berlin in 2014 before Ethereum Mainnet launched and has since moved among cities in Europe, Asia, North America, and South America.

Past numbered editions have taken place in London, Shanghai, Cancún, Prague, Osaka, Bogotá, and Bangkok.

Devcon 8 is scheduled for November 3 through November 6, 2026, at the Jio World Center in Mumbai, India.

Devcon is different from Devconnect because Devcon brings many communities together in one main venue, while Devconnect consists of separate topic-focused events.

It is also different from a hackathon, protocol upgrade, cryptocurrency, or token launch.

Presentations at Devcon can reveal important research and development trends, but they do not automatically make a proposal part of Ethereum or prove that a project is safe.

Attendees should protect their wallets, devices, identity information, and travel documents while avoiding fake tickets, malicious QR codes, unofficial tokens, and phishing websites.

People who cannot attend can use the Devcon Archive to study recorded sessions and follow the evolution of Ethereum’s technology and community.
