Gate Launches Built-In Prediction Market Feature In Public Beta

Crypto exchange Gate is trying something a bit different, and it could end up changing how people interact with trading platforms.

The company has announced that it has integrated a prediction market directly into its platform, saying it’s the first centralized exchange (CEX) to do this. The feature is already live in public beta, meaning users can start trying it out right away, even though it’s still in a testing phase.

According to Gate, the idea is simple: users can trade “Yes” or “No” outcomes on real-world events. These events can range from sports and crypto to broader macro topics, all within the same platform.

At first glance, it feels like a mix of trading and betting, but Gate is presenting it more as an information-driven market where users can act on their expectations.

Users Can Trade Yes Or No Outcomes Across Multiple Categories

The feature itself is pretty straightforward, which is probably part of the appeal.

Users are given events or questions, basically predictions about what might happen, and they choose either “Yes” or “No.” That’s it. From there, they’re essentially trading on whether they think something will happen or not.

The events cover a wide range of areas. Sports outcomes, crypto-related developments, and even macroeconomic trends are all part of the mix. So instead of just trading tokens, users are now trading their views on real-world events.

It’s a different kind of interaction compared to traditional spot or derivatives trading. There’s less focus on charts and more on outcomes and expectations.

And for some users, that might actually feel easier to get into.

Instant Execution And Automatic Stablecoin Settlement

One of the key things Gate is highlighting is how smooth the process is supposed to be.

Trades are executed instantly, so users don’t have to wait around for orders to fill. Once the outcome of an event is decided, settlements happen automatically, and payouts are made in stablecoins.

That part matters because it removes a lot of the friction that usually comes with more complex trading systems. There’s no need to manually close positions or convert assets afterward.

Everything just settles once the result is clear.

It’s designed to feel simple, almost like placing a bet, but within a structured trading environment.

Integration With Prediction Markets Signals A Shift For Centralized Exchanges

What makes this more interesting is not just the feature itself, but what it represents.

Prediction markets have mostly existed outside of mainstream centralized exchanges, often tied to decentralized platforms. Now, Gate is bringing that concept directly into a CEX environment.

In fact, the company says it has integrated a prediction market platform and positions itself as the first centralized exchange to complete this kind of integration.

There’s also mention of integration with Polymarket, which suggests that existing prediction market infrastructure may be playing a role here.

If that’s the case, it could be a sign that the gap between decentralized and centralized platforms is starting to close, at least in some areas.

Blurring The Line Between Trading, Betting And Information Markets

Naturally, this kind of feature raises a few questions about what category it really falls into.

On one hand, it looks like trading, you’re taking positions and aiming to profit. On the other hand, it has clear similarities to betting, since you’re predicting outcomes of events.

But there’s also another angle: information markets. These are platforms where people trade based on what they believe will happen, and prices can reflect collective expectations.

Gate’s approach seems to sit somewhere in the middle of all three.

And that’s part of why it’s getting attention. It’s not just another trading feature, it’s a slightly different way of thinking about how users interact with markets.

Public Beta Launch Could Bring Prediction Markets To A Wider Audience

For now, the feature is still in public beta, which means it’s open to users but likely to evolve over time.

This early phase gives Gate a chance to see how people actually use the product, what works, and what doesn’t. It also allows them to make adjustments before a full rollout.

At the same time, launching it in beta means more users can experiment with prediction markets without needing to go to separate platforms.

That alone could make a difference.

If the feature gains traction, it might bring prediction markets to a much wider audience, especially users who are already familiar with centralized exchanges but haven’t explored this space before.

For now, it’s still early. But the direction is clear: Gate is trying to expand what a crypto exchange can offer, and this move into prediction markets could be one of the more interesting steps in that direction.
