U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee left the internet reviled Tuesday with an unusual memo that cracked jokes about procreation while diplomats shelter in place.
The memo, circulated Tuesday to U.S. diplomats, local staff, and family members huddled in protective quarters, included a cheeky comment about the potential consequences of extended time indoors with spouses, The Washington Post reported.
In the memo, Huckabee wrote that if the "extended time" with your spouse "results in the birth of your next child in about 9 months, I of course expect that you will want to name the little bugger after me!"
U.S. officials said the note struck many as "awkward" and "odd."
Internet critics were disgusted by the joke.
