Attorney General Pam Bondi will face a House Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday that Democrats plan to use to pressure her on the Department of Justice's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files among other hot-button topics.

According to Politico reporter Hailey Fuchs, Bondi has avoided previous questioning opportunities. Democrats view the upcoming hearing as a chance to directly challenge the attorney general under oath regarding the DOJ's continued delays in releasing Epstein-related documents.

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), a committee member, made clear his intentions: "It's very hard to narrow down all of the lawlessness and gross abuse of power that this Department of Justice has engaged in in just one year. She's been trying to avoid us, but she can't avoid us any longer."

Republicans have signaled they will offer minimal pressure on Bondi, with the notable exception of Rep. Tom Massie (R-KY), who has been among her harshest critics regarding Epstein matters.

Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland outlined the Democratic strategy: "To engage in some exchanges that will spotlight some of the worst depredations of the Trump Justice Department, and we hope the mobilization of public opinion will allow us to make some progress in some areas."

Democrats anticipate Bondi's abrasive and defensive posture based on her previous testimony. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) predicted, "We've all noticed that at prior hearings, when she's afraid to answer a question, she attacks the members of Congress. So if she starts doing that, you know she's afraid to answer a question, and she's engaged in a cover-up, so the American people will be able to see what she does on Wednesday."
