WHERE: The Space Needle in Seattle, Washington

FUN FACTS:

About the Space Needle:

  • The Space Needle was originally constructed in just 400 days for the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair, which was themed “The Age of Space” and hosted 2.65 million guests!
  • The Space Needle’s 520-foot saucer-shaped “top house” offers Seattle’s only 360-degree indoor and outdoor panoramic views of downtown, Mount Rainier, Puget Sound, and the Cascades and Olympic mountain ranges.
  • The Space Needle is referred to as “she/her” because its graceful design was inspired by an abstract sculpture by David Lemon titled “The Feminine One.”
  • The Space Needle got a “Spacelift” in 2018, when Floor-to-ceiling glass views, including an upper-level outdoor observation deck with open-air glass walls and Skyriser glass benches, were installed.
  • This year (2025), the Space Needle opened the Skyliner 1 elevator, the first all-glass, double-deck, outdoor elevator in North America and the first on a tower in the world!
  • Located 500 feet in the air, the Space Needle’s Loupe Level offers the world’s first and only revolving glass floor.

About the firework display:

  • 60 rounds of fireworks were launched from the Space Needle during Super Bowl LX after each touchdown. This was a complete surprise for Seattleites and onlookers.
  • A crew of 7 technicians with PyroSpectaculars worked to create the fireworks at the Space Needle.
  • The colors included Seahawk blue and lime green
  • The Space Needle fireworks are reserved for special occasions; historically fireworks have been featured for the past 30 years during the annual New Year’s at the Needle celebration and during the Seahawks’ 2014 Super Bowl appearance.
