Surgical mask-wearing suspect arrested at White House official's home in murder plot

A Maryland man has been arrested and charged with a plot to kill President Donald Trump's Office of Management and Budget director, Russ Vought.

According to CBS News, 26-year-old Colin Demarco, who has previously warned Trump's presidency would lead to a "fascist takeover," showed up at Vought's home wearing a surgical mask and gloves before being apprehended by authorities.

"During the course of the investigation, agents with the U.S. Marshals Service also discovered that Demarco had previously claimed to be writing a manifesto and that he had also drafted a series of notes detailing everything from a weapons stash to a 'Body Disposal Guide,'" said the report. "The court records show that Demarco is accused of plotting to murder a victim with the initials 'R.V.' who, according to the criminal complaint, 'has served as a presidential appointee.'"

Vought is well-known as one of the architects of the Project 2025 agenda, a blueprint the Trump administration has used to reshape the federal government in his image and purge the civil service of anyone perceived as disloyal.

During his time at OMB, he has also overseen a series of legally questionable moves to unilaterally terminate funding appropriated by Congress to various purposes the administration disagrees with, seen by experts as a massive executive branch power grab. And a federal judge has rebuked him for trying to terminate environmental grants specifically to states that voted against Trump.

"Vought's controversial comments and actions have made him the subject of numerous violent threats since last year, court filings and sources say," the report continued. "He is now protected by a security detail from the U.S. Marshals Service, the federal law enforcement agency that led the investigation into Demarco and is part of the Justice Department."
