No Bitcoin Holiday! Strategy Adds $264.1M BTC to Holdings

Strategy Inc., the world’s largest corporate holder of bitcoin, under the leadership of Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, has acquired an additional 2,932 BTC for approximately $264.1 million, at an average price of $90,061 per coin. The company now holds $54.19 billion in Bitcoin, with an average purchase price of $76,037 per coin.

The acquisition, announced via an SEC filing and a post on X by Saylor, increases the firm’s total holdings to 712,647 BTC. The transaction reflects the company’s ongoing plan to expand its Bitcoin treasury, especially given that Bitcoin is currently trading at $88,000.

$264.1M BTC Added

Between January 20 and January 25, 2026, Strategy acquired assets primarily by selling 1,569,770 shares of Class A common stock, generating $257 million in proceeds. The company also raised $7 million from its STRC series of preferred stock. This most recent acquisition, however, is smaller compared to previous significant purchases.

For example, just last week, the firm crossed the 700,000 mark with the purchase of 22,305 BTC for $2.13 billion at $95,284 per coin. Additionally, earlier this month, Strategy bought 1,283 BTC for $116 million. This latest purchase continues the firm’s pattern of weekly acquisitions, even as the number one coin struggles to stabilize at $90,000.

Market observers have noted that the company’s total holdings now exceed $62 billion, resulting in significant unrealized gains from a lower average cost. Reactions from the community on X trail the acquisitions; while some individuals express strong support for the ongoing acquisitions, others voice concerns about potential shareholder dilution from frequent share sales.

Saylor’s Long-Term Bitcoin Plan

In August 2020, Strategy began its Bitcoin treasury strategy with an initial purchase of 21,454 coins for $250 million. Acquisitions accelerated throughout 2021, including significant purchases such as 29,646 BTC for $650 million in late 2020 and over 19,000 coins in early 2021.

Although the pace slowed during the 2022 bear market, it picked up again in the following years, leading to major transactions in 2024 and 2025 that increased holdings to their current levels. Meanwhile, Saylor has consistently portrayed Bitcoin as a superior form of digital property for long-term capital preservation, advocating for indefinite holding regardless of price fluctuations.

This approach has made Strategy the world’s largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, accounting for over 3.3% of the asset’s circulating supply. Despite some pressure on the company’s stock price in recent periods, the model has yielded significant returns since its inception.
