  • Tether is expanding USDT’s presence in Laos.
  • The company will collaborate with the Bitqik crypto exchange.
  • They will educate the Lao market about bitcoin and stablecoins.

Tether and the licensed cryptocurrency exchange Bitqik announced a strategic collaboration aimed at improving financial literacy around bitcoin and stablecoins in Laos. The initiative is designed to promote knowledge about digital assets, including USDT, and their role in advancing financial inclusion.

Bitqik is a locally regulated platform that provides brokerage and trading services for cryptocurrencies and other digital assets, allowing users to easily send and receive cryptocurrency.

The company believes that decentralized digital currencies can fundamentally reshape the global economy by enabling financial freedom and driving further innovation — values that align with Tether’s mission.

As part of the partnership, Bitqik plans to expand access to blockchain technologies by educating the Lao market on how to use USDT and explaining the role of stablecoins in advancing financial inclusion.

The initiative also aims to strengthen trust in stablecoins, promote broader adoption of USDT in Laos’ digital finance ecosystem, and encourage communities, students, and entrepreneurs to use stablecoin solutions.

To achieve these goals, Bitqik will develop online educational content for students focused on responsible, informed use of digital assets, and will also host quarterly offline events in key cities across the country — Vientiane, Pakse, Vang Vieng, and Luang Prabang.

The events will focus on practical use cases for stablecoins and blockchain, and are intended to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to actively participate in the digital economy.

The program is expected to reach more than 10,000 people through seminars, roadshow presentations, and online materials, while also raising awareness of USDT as a reliable and widely used stablecoin in the Lao market.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino emphasized the importance of the project’s educational component:

In turn, Bitqik CEO Virasak Viravong noted:

As a reminder, Tether also recently introduced Scudo — a new unit of account for the Tether Gold (XAUT) token, designed to simplify fractional ownership of tokenized gold. The company compared this approach to the use of satoshis in bitcoin. The launch of Scudo came amid record growth in interest in gold and its price reaching all-time highs in 2025.
