Greenland 2: Migration, starring Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin, is reportedly coming soon to digital streaming.
A sequel to the 2020 post-apocalyptic action-drama Greenland, Greenland 2: Migration opened in theaters nationwide on Jan. 9. The official summary of the sequel reads, “In the aftermath of a comet strike that decimated most of the earth, Greenland 2: Migration follows the Garrity family (Butler, Baccarin and Roman Griffin Davis) as they’re forced to leave the safety of their bunker in Greenland to traverse a shattered world in search of a new home.”
Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, Greenland 2: Migration also stars Amber Rose Revah, Tommie Earl Jenkins, Sophie Thompson, Trond Fausa Aurvåg and William Abadie.
Greenland 2: Migration will be released on digital streaming via streaming video on demand on Tuesday, Jan. 27, When to Stream reported. While When to Stream is typically accurate with its PVOD reports, the streaming tracker noted that Greenland 2: Migration’s studio, Lionsgate, has not announced or confirmed the release date and it is subject to change.
When Greenland 2: Migration arrives on PVOD, it will be available to purchase or rent on such digital platforms as Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Prime Video and YouTube Movies & TV. Prime Video currently has the film listed for pre-order for purchase for $24.99.
Since digital rentals are typically $5 less than purchase prices, viewers can expect to rent Greenland 2: Migration for $19.99 for a 48-hour period.
How Did Audiences And Critics Receive ‘Greenland 2: Migration’?
Greenland 2: Migration has grossed $14.2 million in domestic ticket sales and more than $900,000 internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $15.1 million. The film had a net production budget of $90 million and a marketing budget of $20 million, according to Deadline.
Greenland 2: Migration earned a 48% “rotten” critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 79 reviews.
The RT Critics Consensus for the film reads, “The world ends more with a whimper in Greenland 2: Migration compared to its predecessor’s big bang thrills, but Gerard Butler’s sturdy star power keeps this continuation reasonably compelling.”
In addition, Greenland 2: Migration earned a 66% “fresh” Popcornmeter score on RT based on 1,000-plus verified user ratings. The RT audience summary for the movie reads, “Another serviceable natural disaster flick led by Gerard Butler, Greenland 2: Migration delivers decent thrills even if the corny ending fails to stick the landing.”
