‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Is Now ‘Grand Theft Auto’ Meets ‘Breaking Bad’

Euphoria/GTA 5

Euphoria season 3 is…going some places. A while ago, it seemed like the season was never actually going to come together, but eventually, the now much-more-famous cast reunited to film what appears to be a final season, and it has now gotten a release date of April 12, 2026, not really that far off at all.

This Euphoria season 3 trailer is wild. Even by Euphoria standards, it appears it has transformed into an entirely new show. Well, a show plus a video game, as I’d equate what we’re seeing here to a combination of Grand Theft Auto and Breaking Bad.

This is mainly due to what Rue’s storyline is now. We got a taste of this toward the end of last season as Rue gets deeper involved in the drug trade, but now we’re at a point where she’s on the run from one cartel and falling in deep with another in a new city. This takes place after high school, finally, but she’s still supposed to still be maybe 21, at best.

Being hunted by drug dealers as the thrust of her plot, so much so that she ends up equipped with automatic weapons, feels wholly transformative, and the B through D plots involving the other main girls, Jules, Maddy and Cassie, all appear to be somewhat expectedly sex-focused, albeit we’re going far beyond high school hookups. Jules is now a “sugar baby” to some rich suitor. I believe Maddy is a stripper (though not a hooker, she clarifies) while Cassie, played by Sydney Sweeney, is an OnlyFans model. Again, all of these feel like things that would be integrated into GTA subplots, attempting to comment on modern pop-culture trends.

None of this is meant to be an insult. Grand Theft Auto is good. Breaking Bad is good. I really, genuinely love Euphoria as a show. I also think that yes, it was time to move beyond high school, as the storylines were starting to get overly ridiculous and somewhat creepy for that stage of life. Expanding the show into new territory (no Breaking Bad pun intended) is a smart move, and I can see why this trailer is being received well by extremely patient fans (it will be literally over three years since Euphoria season 2 aired).

This trailer is great, and maxing out its crime, sex and drugs plotlines before the end here? I wouldn’t expect anything less from Euphoria.

Fed spokesperson: The Fed has started a moderate rate cut cycle, and there are huge differences in future decisions

PANews reported on September 18th that according to Jinshi, "Federal Reserve mouthpiece" Nick Timiraos stated that the Federal Reserve approved a 25 basis point interest rate cut on Wednesday, the first in nine months. Officials believe that recent labor market weakness has outweighed the headwinds posed by recurrent inflation. Slightly over half of officials expect at least two more rate cuts this year, suggesting the possibility of consecutive action at the remaining two meetings in October and December. This summary of economic forecasts suggests a shift in policy stance toward broader concerns about cracks in the job market—an environment complicated by significant policy adjustments that have made economic trends increasingly difficult to predict. Forecasts suggest that future policy decisions could be even more divided: Of the 19 officials present, seven predicted no further rate cuts this year, while two supported only one. Most officials believed that given the current outlook for solid economic activity (even if slowing slightly), further significant rate cuts next year were unnecessary. Fed officials have debated this balance throughout the year. Powell's decision to guide his colleagues toward a rate cut was based on a judgment that inflation risks may be more manageable, and that the Fed should accept more of them to avoid a deeper impact on the labor market.
