Polygon Takes Major Step Towards Regulated Payments with Key Acquisitions

  • Polygon strengthens its regulated payments position with strategic acquisitions of Coinme, Sequence.
  • R25 launches rcUSD+ token on Polygon, bringing institutional-grade DeFi yields.
  • Sequence enhances Polygon’s user onboarding with seamless wallet and cross-chain tools.

Polygon has made a bold move toward becoming a prominent player in regulated payments in the United States. According to Sandeep, CEO of the Polygon Foundation, the company has unveiled plans to acquire Coinme and Sequence, two firms specializing in vital aspects of compliant payments and user onboarding.

This announcement follows Polygon’s broader vision of transforming global money movement, taking a significant step toward integrating blockchain with everyday finance.

With these acquisitions, Polygon strengthens its position as a vertically integrated platform capable of handling regulated fiat access, blockchain settlement, and cross-chain execution. The addition of Coinme, a firm operating under money transmitter licences across 48 U.S. states, gives Polygon immediate access to regulated money movement.

Coinme’s robust network includes over 50,000 physical retail locations, enabling Polygon to tap into the regulated payment space without starting from scratch.

Moreover, Coinme’s enterprise-grade APIs are designed to support both traditional companies and crypto-native firms, facilitating custody, trading, and fiat on-ramps. This infrastructure enhances Polygon’s appeal to banks, fintech firms, and payment providers seeking compliant blockchain integrations.

Coinme’s established relationships with enterprises and its extensive user base further broaden Polygon’s market reach.

Strengthening User Onboarding with Sequence’s Innovative Wallet Infrastructure

The second acquisition, Sequence, focuses on simplifying blockchain payments for users. Through its embedded wallet infrastructure, Sequence enables applications to offer crypto payments without requiring users to have deep technical knowledge. This user-friendly approach enhances onboarding speed and reduces the intimidation factor associated with blockchain-based payments.

Sequence’s seamless integration provides Polygon with the tools necessary to streamline cross-chain transactions, enabling users to move assets, swap tokens, and manage gas fees with a single action.

Sequence’s cross-chain orchestration tools address the challenges of moving assets between different blockchain networks, making Polygon’s platform more accessible to users. This infrastructure aligns with Polygon’s strategy of supporting payments across various ecosystems rather than limiting activity to a single blockchain.

A Unified Platform for Seamless Payments and Blockchain Execution

Together, these strategic acquisitions significantly enhance Polygon’s long-term strategy. The company now controls key layers of the payment stack, from regulated fiat access to blockchain execution and user-facing wallets. This vertical integration allows Polygon to support instant money movement while maintaining regulatory compliance within the U.S. market.

By positioning itself as a comprehensive platform for compliant payments and seamless blockchain integration, Polygon is poised to play a central role in the future of global finance, bridging the gap between traditional finance and the blockchain ecosystem.

R25’s rcUSD+ Token Launches on Polygon

In a further push to enhance Polygon’s ecosystem, R25, a pioneering protocol focused on real-world assets (RWAs) and stablecoins, officially launched its rcUSD+ token on the Polygon blockchain in November. This launch aims to bring institutional-grade yield to decentralized finance (DeFi) by leveraging Polygon’s high-speed, low-cost infrastructure.

With the rcUSD+ token, R25 aims to offer a yield-bearing solution that bridges the stability of traditional finance with the world of blockchain, providing sustainable returns to everyday token holders.

By leveraging Polygon’s efficient network, this collaboration enhances the appeal of Polygon as a platform capable of supporting institutional-grade financial products in the DeFi space.

EUR/CHF slides as Euro struggles post-inflation data

The post EUR/CHF slides as Euro struggles post-inflation data appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. EUR/CHF weakens for a second straight session as the euro struggles to recover post-Eurozone inflation data. Eurozone core inflation steady at 2.3%, headline CPI eases to 2.0% in August. SNB maintains a flexible policy outlook ahead of its September 25 decision, with no immediate need for easing. The Euro (EUR) trades under pressure against the Swiss Franc (CHF) on Wednesday, with EUR/CHF extending losses for the second straight session as the common currency struggles to gain traction following Eurozone inflation data. At the time of writing, the cross is trading around 0.9320 during the American session. The latest inflation data from Eurostat showed that Eurozone price growth remained broadly stable in August, reinforcing the European Central Bank’s (ECB) cautious stance on monetary policy. The Core Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, rose 2.3% YoY, in line with both forecasts and the previous month’s reading. On a monthly basis, core inflation increased by 0.3%, unchanged from July, highlighting persistent underlying price pressures in the bloc. Meanwhile, headline inflation eased to 2.0% YoY in August, down from 2.1% in July and slightly below expectations. On a monthly basis, prices rose just 0.1%, missing forecasts for a 0.2% increase and decelerating from July’s 0.2% rise. The inflation release follows last week’s ECB policy decision, where the central bank kept all three key interest rates unchanged and signaled that policy is likely at its terminal level. While officials acknowledged progress in bringing inflation down, they reiterated a cautious, data-dependent approach going forward, emphasizing the need to maintain restrictive conditions for an extended period to ensure price stability. On the Swiss side, disinflation appears to be deepening. The Producer and Import Price Index dropped 0.6% in August, marking a sharp 1.8% annual decline. Broader inflation remains…
