Best Identity Protection (2026): Webroot Named Trusted Security Solution for Personal Data by Software Experts

NEW YORK, Jan. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Software Experts has announced its recognition of Webroot as a trusted identity protection solution for 2026, highlighting the company’s integrated approach to protecting personal data across devices, online activity, and user identities. The recognition reflects the growing need for security solutions that address identity-related risks alongside traditional device protection, as data breaches and digital fraud continue to affect individuals and families worldwide.

Best Solution for Identity Protection

  • Webroot – a cybersecurity company that provides integrated device, privacy, and identity protection solutions designed to help individuals and families safeguard their personal data and digital lives

As online banking, shopping, cloud services, and remote connectivity become part of daily life, exposure to identity theft and financial fraud has increased. Software Experts’ evaluation focused on solutions that provide meaningful identity protection without separating it from broader cybersecurity needs. Webroot was recognized for offering identity protection services within both Webroot Premium and Webroot Total Protection, allowing users to manage device security, privacy, and identity monitoring under a single subscription.

Identity Protection Integrated Into Everyday Security

Webroot Premium combines device protection and identity protection to address common digital risks faced by individuals and households. Alongside antivirus and anti-malware defenses designed to guard against phishing, ransomware, and malicious links, the plan includes identity-focused features that monitor personal data and alert users to potential exposure.

Key identity protection capabilities available in Webroot Premium include:

  • Identity, credit, and financial account monitoring
  • Advanced dark web and data breach monitoring
  • Alerts when sensitive personal information is detected in compromised sources
  • Access to 24/7 U.S.-based identity restoration specialists
  • Up to $1 million in identity fraud expense reimbursement, covering eligible out-of-pocket costs and stolen funds

Webroot Premium is available in individual and family plans, protecting up to 10 devices and 10 identities, reflecting the reality that identity risks often affect multiple members of a household.

Expanded Coverage With Webroot Total Protection

Webroot Total Protection builds on the identity protection features found in Webroot Premium by adding privacy, backup, and parental control capabilities. Designed as an all-in-one security solution, Total Protection addresses the interconnected nature of device security, personal data protection, and identity monitoring.

In addition to identity protection services, Webroot Total Protection includes:

  • Antivirus, anti-phishing, malware, and ransomware protection
  • Advanced dark web monitoring and fraud alerts
  • Secure VPN for encrypted connections on public Wi-Fi
  • Password management tools to support stronger credentials
  • Parental controls for content filtering and screen time management
  • Unlimited automated cloud backup for one PC or Mac

Identity protection within Total Protection continues to offer up to $1 million in identity theft expense reimbursement, including coverage for certain retirement and health savings accounts, along with professional remediation support if identity compromise occurs.

Addressing Broader Industry Trends

Software Experts’ recognition of Webroot reflects a broader shift in cybersecurity expectations. Identity protection is increasingly viewed as a core component of digital security rather than a standalone service. Proactive monitoring, timely alerts, and access to remediation experts are now considered essential as cybercriminals target personal and financial data across multiple platforms.

By integrating identity protection into both Webroot Premium and Webroot Total Protection, Webroot aligns with this shift toward comprehensive security coverage. Features such as dark web surveillance, financial monitoring, and identity restoration support are designed to help users respond quickly to emerging threats and reduce the long-term impact of data exposure.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
