Franklin Templeton Pushes Solana Adoption With New Spot SOL ETF Filing

  • Franklin Templeton will soon offer its Solana ETF in the U.S., having filed a Form 8‑A with the SEC.
  • This development arrives just after Franklin Templeton successfully rolled out its XRP ETF.

Franklin Templeton has filed a Form 8‑A with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), effectively registering shares of its proposed fund ahead of listing. The Form 8‑A filing represents one of the last administrative hurdles before the ETF can list, and many analysts expect trading could start within days,  provided there are no last-minute objections or delays. This is after the SEC repeatedly extended its review periods from April to June, and later pushed them into November.

According to the filing, the proposed fund will trade on NYSE Arca under the ticker SOEZ, and will be a “spot” Solana ETF. That means it aims to hold actual SOL tokens “physical SOL in custody”, rather than derivatives or futures contracts. The ETF will track the CF Benchmarks Solana Index, a regulated price index aggregating SOL prices across multiple exchanges.

Management fees are expected to be competitive at 0.19%, with a fee waiver for the first US$5 billion in assets under management until May 2026. The filing reportedly follows an amended S‑1, which was earlier submitted on November 21, and laid out the fund’s structure, custody arrangements, and risk disclosures.

Growth of the Solana ETF Market

Franklin Templeton’s entry into the Solana ETF market puts it in direct competition with established players like Fidelity, Bitwise, VanEck, and Grayscale. They are joined by 21Shares, which recently launched its own Solana ETF under the ticker TSOL on the Chicago Board Options Exchange.

VanEck introduced its VSOL Solana ETF just days earlier, followed shortly by Fidelity, highlighting the growing momentum behind Solana-focused investment products. As previously reported, Fidelity’s ETF, trading under the ticker FSOL, attracted $2.07 million in inflows on its debut day.

The debut of Franklin Templeton’s XRP ETF on November 13 has boosted optimism for its SOL ETF, with XRP spot ETFs drawing nearly $587 million in total assets.

Meanwhile, the Solana ecosystem is seeing other developments. Wormhole Labs recently launched Sunrise DeFi, a platform that will speed up the integration of cross-chain tokens into Solana. Solana’s price has seen a slight pullback, dropping 1.77% over the past week to $137, while its trading volume has declined by 10% to $4 billion.

Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
