PETALING JAYA: A mechanic has been remanded for a week to assist in the investigation into the rape and robbery of a teenager in Kampung Mesira, Palekbang, Kelantan, last month.
Kosmo reported that magistrate Wan Ashrul Afham Azmi issued the remand order for the 24-year-old suspect today to facilitate investigations under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape and Section 394 for voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery.
Tumpat police chief Khairi Shafie said the victim’s father started searching for the teenager at around 10am after she failed to return home.
He said the 15-year-old girl was found semi-conscious and severely injured by members of the public at around 11am.
“Early investigations found that an unknown man hit the victim in the face and head with a wooden stick. The suspect is believed to have raped her there and stolen her mobile phone,” he said.
