Bored and sleepy children joined the Oval Office for the launch of 'Trump Accounts'

President Donald Trump used young children as a backdrop in the Oval Office to launch "Trump Accounts," his investment program for kids, during a nearly 90-minute event that tested the children's patience.

According to Emily Goodin, a reporter for The New York Post, one child whispered, "When is this over?" midway through, while photos revealed a boy appearing to nod off against another child at the foot of the Resolute Desk, as others fidgeted on the carpet.

Despite the children's restlessness, the event proceeded with Trump ringing the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq from the Oval Office. This marked the first such ceremony from the Oval Office.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), and billionaire donors Michael and Susan Dell, who pledged over $6 billion to the project, flanked the President.

Trump also promoted Dell computers during the event.

Approximately 6 million children have enrolled since the July 4 launch, though critics argue benefits will primarily favor wealthy families.
