Choose anyone but PH, Saifuddin tells voters

Reset co-founder Saifuddin Abdullah said Johoreans understand that the key issue in the state polls is not politics, but good governance.

JOHOR BAHRU: Reset co-founder Saifuddin Abdullah yesterday urged voters to cast their ballots for anyone but Pakatan Harapan (PH), telling them to use their “moral compass” when it comes to seats contested by both Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN).

“We are not specifying which party should be supported. The only certainty is that it should not be PH.

“Look at which candidate and which party is aligned with the principle of ‘amar makruf nahi mungkar’ (enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong),” he told reporters after a gathering by Reset in Johor last night.

The event saw 300 attendees, including the movement’s vice-president, former Melaka chief minister, Rahim Thamby Chik, and information chief, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.

Saifuddin, who had previous stints with Umno, PKR and Bersatu, is now the secretary-general of Parti Wawasan Negara, which was recently made a PN component.

PAS, a fellow PN component, called on its members and supporters last week to vote for Umno or BN candidates in state constituencies where PN is not contesting in the Johor election on July 11.

Bersatu, meanwhile, said it would not instruct its supporters to vote for any particular party in seats where PN has not fielded candidates.

Saifuddin said the people of Johor understood that the key issue in the polls was not politics, but good governance.

“If the people of Johor are happy with the (BN-led) administration and feel that it deserves another term, then that is their choice.”

BN and PH are contesting all 56 state seats, while PN is vying for 33.
