Altimet rocks campaign trail in Endau for PH candidate

MERSING: Rapper and songwriter Altimet has taken to the campaign trail in support of the Pakatan Harapan candidate for Endau, Saiful Nizam Samat, saying members of the arts community carried a significant responsibility for conveying the aspirations of the people.

Altimet, whose real name is Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, said: “Art itself reflects society, and creative works come in many forms such as songs, films and novels. Therefore, artists effectively become representatives of the people when they produce works that express what the public feels.”

He believes that bread-and-butter issues related to the economy and the cost of living, including the BUDI95 initiative, are among the issues closest to voters’ hearts when deciding which candidate to support.

He urged young people to fulfil their civic responsibility by voting for representatives who will champion their voices in the state assembly.

Syed Ahmad, who is an assemblyman in Selangor, said his participation reflected the spirit of solidarity in appreciation of the strong support that Selangor PH’s election machinery had previously received from other states.

“Out of the spirit of togetherness, we are here to give our full support to the campaign machinery here. Now it is our turn to join forces to help secure victory for the party,” he said.

Saiful said Altimet’s popularity and extensive experience as both an entertainer and an elected representative had helped him reach more voters, especially young people.

Johor voters will cast their ballots on July 11, with early voting on July 7.
