SEOUL, June 15 — Netflix will launch a live world tour for its hit animated musical KPop Demon Hunters as part of a broader push to extend the film’s global reach beyond streaming.

The Korea Times reported that Netflix confirmed the tour in May as part of a strategy to build a multilayered business model around the 2025 blockbuster.

Netflix said the live show “will bring elements of the two-time Oscar-winning film to life in spectacular ways,” adding that tour dates, host cities and ticketing details will be announced in the second half of 2026.

The film, released in 2025, became a global phenomenon after breaking streaming records and winning Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards, the 83rd Golden Globes and the 31st Critics Choice Awards.

Netflix partnered with AEG Presents to stage the tour, tapping a promoter known for major global events including Coachella and international tours for artists such as Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

AEG Presents has also organised world tours for K-pop stars including Blackpink, Jennie and G-Dragon.

The initiative reflects a shift in entertainment economics, where a single successful intellectual property is expanded into long-term franchises rather than treated as a standalone release.

Modern audiences increasingly seek ways to experience fictional universes beyond the screen, driving demand for merchandise, themed exhibitions, interactive events and live performances.

The model mirrors the success of Squid Game, which evolved into a global franchise after its 2021 debut and generated worldwide sales of costumes, merchandise and experiential pop-ups.

The upcoming KPop Demon Hunters tour blends live performance with animated storytelling, tapping into the lucrative K-pop touring ecosystem where fans purchase tickets, merchandise and digital content simultaneously.

Netflix aims to extend the film’s lifespan through sequels, spin-offs and live events, positioning the title as a long-term franchise rather than a one-off production.

The tour is also expected to support immersive tourism, with host cities likely to benefit from themed attractions, branded experiences and increased visitor spending.

The Korea Times reported that the world tour will expand offline fan engagement and contribute economic value to participating destinations.
