PETALING JAYA: A 24-year-old man has been arrested by police in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan for allegedly abusing his nearly three-year-old stepson repeatedly.
Seremban police chief Yatim Osman said a police report was filed by the victim’s mother yesterday at 8.30pm, after the child was brought to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for treatment.
He said the victim was believed to have been physically abused by the suspect in a car while at a petrol station.
“Our initial investigation also found that the suspect had beaten the victim several times at a house in Jalan Rasah, causing multiple injuries.
“A physical check on the victim found bruises on the front and back of his body, that are believed to have been caused by being pinched,” he said in a statement.
Yatim said police then arrested the suspect in front of the hospital, adding that he and the victim’s mother had only tied the knot in April.
The suspect has been remanded until June 20 to assist in the investigation into the alleged child abuse, while the victim is still at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for further treatment.
