PETALING JAYA: A four-storey building that served as flats for a community of foreigners in Hulu Langat is being demolished by the landowner.
Berita Harian quoted a representative of Kampung Sungai Makau residents as saying demolition works started this morning and would take about two weeks.
The spokesman said the costs are being fully borne by the landowner, who had allowed a small community of Rohingya to build and reside at the flats.
The site, which also served as a small business centre for the community, was reportedly vacated by its previous residents about three days ago.
Earlier this week, the Kajang municipal council said the building was illegally built on reserved government land, while the other part occupied two private land lots.
It said no planning permission had been applied for the building, nor had infrastructure or building plans for any development in the area been submitted.
