Ripple is Preparing XRP for the Next Bull Cycle—Canary Capital CEO

  • XRP is among cryptocurrencies building real use cases in the financial market.
  • Ripple is making acquisitions and developing new projects.
  • Ripple’s actions will boost XRP’s chances in the next market cycle.

Canary Capital CEO Steven McClurg classifies XRP among cryptocurrencies that are building real use cases in the financial market, particularly tokenization.

2026 is a Year of Building in the Blockchain Industry

McClurg made the statement during a recent podcast, while projecting increased adoption for that crypto asset class in 2026 despite several headwinds. According to McClurg, 2026 is a year of building in the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry, a period traditionally renowned for preparation to dominate the next crypto market cycle.

In the meantime, McClurg highlighted ongoing activities in the Ripple ecosystem, including several acquisitions and the development of new projects. He cited the fintech company’s model as an ideal and timely way to prepare for future growth.

XRP and RLUSD are Ahead in the Digital Financial Sector

Despite Ripple’s ongoing improvements, McClurg thinks the firm’s XRP and RLUSD are currently in pole position among protocols dominating the mainstream financial sector. According to him, Ripple is in the best position to partner with banks and Wall Street companies to develop their financial infrastructure.

Focusing on tokenization, McClurg highlighted Ripple’s remittances network as a crucial aspect of the company’s product development. He cited the RLUSD stablecoin as one of the most important elements of the Ripple ecosystem. According to McClurg, RLUSD will explode as soon as it becomes integrated into the rails of Ripple’s partners, potentially surpassing the USDC stablecoin.

Market Access and Regulation

Market access stood out as one of the areas where McClurg sees potential implementation of Ripple’s products. According to him, tokenizing equities and bonds is the next iteration for the technology. Meanwhile, he considers custody banks, particularly in the U.S., as mainstream entities more open to adopting digital products within the current regulatory boundaries.

McClurg believes the CLARITY Act, which many crypto community members believe will straighten out the crooked areas of the rules guiding the industry, can and should easily be passed in its current form. However, he foresees a delay in the bill’s passing but not beyond the first half of 2026.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
