Slow Horses, starring Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Jack Lowden, wraps up its fifth season on Wednesday on Apple TV. What’s next for acclaimed Apple TV crime drama?
Based on author Mick Herron’s best-selling Slough House spy novels, Slow Horses follows Jackson Lamb (Oldman), the leader of an MI5 unit consisting of other disgraced fellow agents.
The official summary for Slow Horses Season 5 reads, “Everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, the London Rules — cover your back — always apply.”
Slow Horses Season 5’s finale is titled Scars. The logline for the episode reads, “It’s up to the Slow Horses to stop Farouk’s team from completing its mission in a final act of mass carnage.”
The fifth season of Slow Horses also stars Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Ruth Bradley, James Callis and Tom Brooke, along with Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso) as a guest star.
For viewers hoping for another season of Slow Horses, Apple TV has already answered the call. In October of 2024, Apple TV announced that it had given the green light for Season 6, along with a logline that reads, “Season six sees the Slow Horses on the run as Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge.”
The premiere date for Slow Horses Season 6 has not yet been announced, but like the five previous seasons of the series, it will consist of six episodes. Season 6 is being adapted from is adapted from Joe Country and Slough House, which are the sixth and seventh novels in Herron’s Slough House series.
Apple TV Has Already Announced That ‘Slow Horses’ Will Get A Seventh Season
While viewers anticipated the release date of Slow Horses Season 6, Apple TV announced in July that the show was coming back for Season 7.
“Slow Horses has won fans all over the world with its unique mix of self-deprecating British humor and high-octane action,” Jay Hunt, creative director, Europe, Apple TV, said in a statement.
“I’m delighted viewers will have another season to enjoy Gary’s magnificent performance as Jackson Lamb alongside the Slow Horses’ slightly inept spycraft,” Hunt added.
Slow Horses Season 7 will be adapted from author Mick Herron’s best-selling novel Bad Actors. Like Season 6, a release date for Season 7 has not yet been announced.
