Strait of Hormuz closes again despite Trump's ceasefire deal

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, closed the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday despite President Donald Trump's ceasefire agreement requiring the waterway to remain open.

Iran cited Israeli strikes in Lebanon as justification, despite Trump insisting Lebanon was not part of the ceasefire deal.

BBC correspondent Lyse Doucet reported that, despite Pakistan's announcement of an all-fronts ceasefire, attacks in Lebanon have continued and intensified. Within hours, the IRGC halted oil tanker passage through the strait, with only two tankers permitted passage before closure.

An IRGC announcement warned all vessels, "Transiting the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and you need permission from the IRGC before sailing through the strait. Any vessel trying to travel into the sea will be targeted and destroyed."

Ship-broker SSY confirmed vessels in the Persian Gulf received notification of the closure.
