Ransom deadline expires in just hours as manhunt for Savannah Guthrie's mom drags on: cops

Two reported ransom deadlines have emerged in the abduction of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of "Today" show co-host Savannah Guthrie, with just hours remaining on the first such deadline.

Multiple media outlets, including TMZ and Tucson, Arizona, stations, received unverified ransom demands demanding millions in Bitcoin with a stated deadline and threats to kill Nancy Guthrie.

Around noon local time on Thursday, Heith Janke, FBI Phoenix’s special agent in charge, told reporters that one of the reported ransom notes had a deadline of 5 p.m. Thursday. He confirmed a second deadline was set for Monday, Feb. 9, but didn't elaborate about what the second deadline entails.

Authorities reiterated that they have not identified a prime suspect or a person of interest in the disappearance, and said anyone connected to the case could be considered a suspect. He also confirmed that blood found on the porch outside Nancy Guthrie’s home tested positive for her DNA.

The news comes as the Pima County Sheriff's Department officials announced a $50K reward for information. It also comes after the family shared a heart-wrenching plea to social media on Wednesday, addressed to the kidnapper, asking for proof she's alive.
