Staggering prediction on CNN as Dems flip Mar-a-Lago seat

CNN data guru Harry Enten issued a staggering prediction after Democrats flipped a state legislative seat in Florida that represents President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.

Harry Enten, CNN's chief data analyst, said during an interview on "Erin Burnett OutFront" that the election is a harbinger of what's to come for Republicans in the midterms. Enten said the party that outperformed the presidential baseline in the midterms went on to win the House of Representatives in five out of the last five elections.

"What is happening right now in Mar-a-Lago is unlikely to stay a Mar-a-Lago. It is likely to expand nationwide and to expand in the midterm elections as well," Enten said.

On Tuesday, Democrat Emily Gregory defeated the Trump-endorsed Republican Jon Maples in the Florida House District 87 race by less than 800 votes. Gregory defeated Maples in a district that Trump carried by 11 points in the 2024 election, Enten noted.

Gregory's victory is just the latest in a string of Democratic victories in statehouses across the nation.

Democrats picked up a trifecta in the Virginia legislature, winning the governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general races.
