Tinder Handing $60,500,000 To Users in Class Action Settlement Over Alleged Discrimination

The popular dating app Tinder is handing out tens of millions of dollars to customers in a class action lawsuit alleging the company overcharged older users.

New court documents show Tinder has recently settled a class action lawsuit that alleged it charged users aged 29 or older more than younger users for its gold subscription between March 2015 and March 2016.

“The lawsuit was brought by Allan Candelore on behalf of himself and other California consumers who were charged a higher price for their Tinder subscriptions because of their age. The lawsuit alleges that Tinder’s higher pricing for older users violated California’s Unruh Act…

On January 17, 2025, the Court denied Tinder’s motion to require class members to arbitrate their claims rather than have the Court decide them. Tinder appealed that Court order.

While Tinder’s appeal was pending, the parties met to discuss the possibility of settling the case. At a mediation on September 10, 2025, the parties agreed to a settlement in the amount of $60.5 million, which is subject to Court approval.”

The settlement will give out funds to those who purchased Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold in California on or after March 2, 2015 if they were 29 years old or older. Though Tinder settled, it denies doing any wrongdoing or violating any laws.
