X social media platform’s product head Nikita Bier announced that the Smart Cashtags feature will launch in the coming weeks. This feature will allow users to trade stocks and cryptocurrencies directly from their timeline. Bier confirmed the feature in an X post on Saturday; it was introduced in January but lacked official confirmation. The basic Cashtag system launched in 2022 tracked prices of assets like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) and provided visual financial data, but the feature was discontinued.

Additionally, Elon Musk stated during the xAI “All Hands” presentation that the X Money payment feature is in limited beta testing. Set to go global in two months, this feature will enable peer-to-peer money transfers similar to Venmo or Cash App. Musk aims to transform X into an “everything app” like WeChat in China and make it the hub for all financial transactions. The platform has an average of 600 million monthly users.
