The American Federation of Government Employees, representing over 820,000 federal workers, called Monday for DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller to resign or be fired after immigration agents under their direction fatally shot ICU nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. AFGE President Everett Kelley criticized Miller as the architect of the administration’s “harsh immigration agenda” and Noem for enforcing it, saying their actions directly led to Pretti’s death despite eyewitness videos showing he was lawfully armed and intervening to protect a woman. The union denounced the officials’ post-shooting attempts to smear Pretti as a domestic terrorist, declaring both officials “unfit to serve in any position requiring the public trust.”
