Congressional Democrats called for invoking the 25th Amendment Tuesday after President Donald Trump threatened that "a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again" if Iran missed his 8 p.m. ET deadline.
A number of Democrats reacted to the president's threats.

Representatives called for the impeachment of Trump and his Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Maxwell Alejandro Frost called for the War Powers Resolution and impeachment, while Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) wrote on X Trump is escalating an illegal war with war crimes threats and introduced Articles of Impeachment against Hegseth.
Separately, Representatives Summer Lee (D-PA) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) condemned Trump's threats as genocidal on X, with Tlaib describing the President as a war criminal. While Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA) wrote on X she was sick to her stomach and called Trump a "sick and demented man."
Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) urged military members not to follow illegal orders, on X.
Multiple lawmakers characterized Trump as unhinged and unfit for office, demanding his immediate removal and urging his presidential powers and duties be delegated to Vice President JD Vance.
