Google has expanded its real-time conversational search feature, Search Live, to users worldwide, marking a major push into voice-first and multimodal AI experiences.

The rollout, now available in more than 200 countries and territories, allows users to interact with Search in real time using voice and camera, moving beyond traditional typed queries.

The expansion is powered by Google’s latest voice and audio model, Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, which is designed to deliver faster, more natural, and multilingual conversations.

This update lets you talk to Search, ask more questions, and use your camera to get answers about what you see. It’s in the Google app on Android and iOS. Tap the “Live” icon under the search bar to start.

Search Live is designed for situations where typing is difficult. It can help users with step-by-step instructions, quick explanations, or understanding things around them. Using voice input and a smartphone camera, the system understands real-world situations and responds immediately.

For example, users can point their phone’s camera at something, such as furniture they are putting together, and ask for instructions. The system will then use what it sees and what the user says to provide helpful answers and links to learn more.

The experience is also designed to be continuous. Instead of restarting a new search each time, users can hold ongoing conversations, ask follow-up questions, and refine their queries naturally.

Inside the Google Gemini 3.1 Flash Live

At the core of this expansion is Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, Google’s newest voice model built to handle real-time dialogue more effectively. The model improves response speed, understands tone and speech patterns better, and can maintain longer, more coherent conversations.

Its multilingual design lets people in different regions use Search in their own languages. This is a major reason why it’s available worldwide.

In addition to being available for consumers, developers can access the model through Google AI Studio, and businesses can use it through enterprise tools designed for improving customer experience. This means the model is more than just an improvement to search; it’s also a platform for creating applications that use voice commands.

The reasoning renaissance: Why Gemini 3.1 Pro is 2026’s most critical AI shift

This global launch reflects Google’s ongoing transition to AI-powered search, emphasizing conversational, contextual, and immediate interactions.

Instead of just providing links, Search is becoming more like a helpful assistant that can understand visuals, audio, and respond instantly. This change reflects a wider trend of adding generative AI to the digital tools we use daily.

With Search Live now widely available, Google is effectively turning its core product into a live, interactive interface, one that blends voice, vision, and AI into a single experience.
