MANILA, Philippines – The problems of the Philippine education sector may seem insurmountable, but if you ask Geraldine Acuña-Sunshine, there’s nothing Filipinos can’t do.
Sunshine is the founder, president, and chief executive officer of Khan Academy Philippines, the first international licensee of global nonprofit organization Khan Academy.
Khan Academy’s mission is to bring free, world-class education to all, through the use of digital learning tools. Since its Philippine pilot with 34 schools in Metro Manila and Dumaguete City in 2023, Khan has already reached more than 2,700 schools across the country.
Rappler’s Acor Arceo is sitting down with Sunshine and Khan Academy Philippines chief operations officer Myrish Cadapan-Antonio on Tuesday, March 24, to discuss the group’s work, their insights on education, and how the private sector can help boost the quality of learning in the country.
